Speak Up For The 1.2 12v

Featured Replies

All we hear about on this forum is the vrs, I thinks it's about time this great engine got a mention on here more often.

I had a Seat Ibiza before with the same engine and and loved it ( only got rid due to the firm ride in the Ibiza and swapped it for a Nissan Almera which was ****). The 1.5 Almera was sluggish on the motorway but these 1.2 12 3 cylinders seem to fly.

Anyone had any trouble with their 1.2 12v engine.

When I had a Fabia, I got one of these 1.2-12v as a courtesy car while mine was in for a service. I'd assumed it was a 1.4-16v although it was perkier than the 1.4-16v I had at the last service. Had a nose round it once I'd got to work and discovered it was an HTP

Chris

The new Fabia Sport should be a good little car now its a 1.2.

HTP - Has Three Pistons ;)

Must admit the new 1.2 Sport looks a decent little package - I was having a nosey at the sales literature the other day on the Skoda UK web site, and I think if I lived in the middle of a large city and did mainly short commutes etc... I'd go for one over the VRS, probably get just as good mpg and save a load of cash on insurance, serviceing etc.. as well.

A big  for the 1.2 I'd say !!

Absolutly love my 1.2 12v not had a single problem with it, and yes it sure does fly... some great power in 2nd gear i find.

I test drove the 1.4 and then the 1.2 and well u can see from what i purchased which i found better!

Oviously no where near as quick as vRS but it packs a lot of punch for what is suposidly "entry level engine". Yes although getting to motorway speeds is slow but it has no difficultly in reaching and maintaining them.... and is silent when reaching them.

I drove one as a courtesy car. It felt like a 1.4, even though it was only firing on 3 cylinders.

I rented one on Creta and was impressed with the lack of noise, but it was really struggling uphill.

I agree, the 1.2 is a cracking little car.. i thought it was going to be rubbish in such a porker like the Fabia, but the gear ratios really make the best of it.. and it sounds great when revving it :D

Great engine...low maintenance too...

The Wife runs around in a 53 plate (Bought it new) 1.2 Silverline Estate. Wonderful car, Great little engine, Ideal town car although very good on a long run once you have got you speed up Oh.......It's got my vRS wheels on.............Looks the Dogs Bo***cks

... and you have the added bonus over the 1.4 of it sounding great!

I'd love to hear one with a sports exhaust. Impress the neighbours with the sound of a Porsche 911 !

The best sound is no sound. You can always add noise, but you can't always take it away.

Doggy balls don't look nice.........

:D

At first I felt a little bit sceptical about the 1.2 12V engine but now all my fears are gone. This engine is truly magnificent! And the sound is great :)

The only "problem" I have with mine is that the sound is awesome now that I've replaced the original air filter with a BMC F1 air filter :D

My mother has one which i borrowed while i was waiting for the april 1st vRS,

i liked how light the 1.2 16v felt on its feet, changed direction quicker than the vRS great to chuck around, nice little motor.

Another great thing about the 1.2 12v is if you build some heatproof boxes you have a whole extra boot under the bonnet there is so much empty space!

I was comparing size of my battery to size of engine and can safely say the battery is about 1/3 size!
