Driver assistance button.

Featured Replies

I have a 59 plate Yeti 170 Elegance, tonight I had a warning message on the dashboard saying that the driver assistance button is defective. The consequences being, that you cannot set the alarm when locking the vehicle with the fob or with the key, so the alarm keeps going off after you have locked it. Also as you are driving the doors lock themselves and unlock themselves and the dashboard lights go on and off when they feel like. Has anybody else had this problem?

Sounds like it could be a faulty ignition switch?

Ours was faulty and cause the doors to lock and unlock and the dash lights flicker.

Got a warranty replacement.

Have you tried changing the battery in the key remote, just a thought as a friend had a problem with a freelander would not set or unset the alarm sometimes and many other thing going on new battery all cured.

I reckon the fella in Kevin's signature would be no help to you what so ever.

He's been stripping that car for ages :D

He likes to take his time  and it's a big engine  :notme:  :giggle:

Phil - E. The fault also prevents me from opening the nearside windows, front and rear. Did the fault leave any codes on the engine management system.

We didn't have any problems with the windows.

I think it just showed up as an intermittent fault.

The dealers did a load of diagnostics with it and found it to be faulty.

Have you managed to do a scan on it yet?

Phil

I see this on the work car, typically when the boots been open in a heavy downpour.

I assume something gets wet and generates the fault as it goes away.

The fault was in the wiring loom in the drivers door, 2 broken wires and 2 cracked on the insulation. It seems this is a common fault on V.A.G. vehicles, I was told by the auto electrician. The damaged wires were in the loom encased by the rubber boot, between the drivers door and the vehicle itself.

Ah another Yeti with this problem (mine too!). How old is yours Les?

Skoda contributed 70% of the cost of replacing the front passenger door loom on a sympathy claim as my car was 3 months out of warranty. (It still cost me 70 quid, but the repair has a 2 year warrnty).

My Yeti is a 59 plate, the loom was £110 and the labour was £45.

Hi Les. Sounds as though you got an excellent deal on the labour as according to my local agent, Skoda have this down as a min 2 hour job.

Thanks, John  H
