Is a Symphony unit + CD changer worthless without code?

Featured Replies

I can't seem to find any reference to a radio code for the unit in my vRS

Where would it (if there is one) usually be kept please?  I have noted a lack of radio instructions in the main manual, so presume there is a separate radio manual?  However, I don't have one... :D

Thanks

Just checked my stereo manual....and there is no code.....I have got stereo codes on e-bay for £20 all they need is a model no, don't know how much a dealer is...

Maybe the tape player / 6 disc changers don't have a code?  Perhaps only the symphony CD players have a code.

I do understand that apparently you must keep the same tape player & 6 disc changer together.  They are linked to each other somehow apparently.

yeah there is a device installed into radio to remembers your vehicle.... if you put into another vehicle then you will need the code..unsure on the cd changer I don't have that privilege

Wonder if you can get it from the SKZ code?  It says SKZ2Z3A1102837 on top of it

Jason there is a place in Paignton, DND Services that can decode radios.

They decoded a Seat Alana CD player for my missus's Arosa, cost me £15.  I took it to them as I was working nearby and picked it up the same day.

Never heard that the 6 disc changer needs to be kept with the same tape player.  In fact when I first got my Octavia it had a tape player and 6 disc boot changer in it, I swapped the tape player for a CD player and kept the original changer in the boot, it worked fine.

that is the serial no you will need

HU is decoded by the ECU, so you will need some sort of code to get to work in a different car (not sure what).  The CD changer should not care as long as it is attached to a working HU.

IIRC you can change it to use the code, the option is somewhere in the setup menu.

They usually sell anyway bud

If u ask skoda they tell u

Some charge... Some if u ask nice have gave them to people

Im sure its a serial num and the cars vin

Goodluck bud :)

The in the freezer days were alot easier lol

HU is coded to the car, if you don't have the code only a dealer can obtain it. The dealer needs the car (working of course) as its now all done online to VAG HQ.

CD changer has no code and can be used in any VAG group car.
