2005 4x4FSI Octavia rear wheel bearing torque

Featured Replies

Hi Experts

I just replaced my rear wheel bearings and on my 4x4 octy. Now my question is regarding the tightening torque of the 12 point bolt.

Some say.....

250nm back off half a turn, rotate the wheel ,then 50nm + 60 degrees

225nm slacken off( dont know how much) then 50nm + 60 degrees

70nm plus 90 degrees

I dont want to mess up the bearing so could you guide me into more happy miles!!!!

Regards

Stefan

The third figure is right. This is the procedure to use.

- Install new screw (twelve-sided bolt)

Note: The wheels should not touch the ground when tightening the screw for the drive shaft, otherwise the wheel bearing will be initially damaged.

- Depress brake pedal (assistance of second mechanic required)

- Tighten the twelve-sided bolt to 70Nm and release the brake pedal.

- Place vehicle onto its wheels.

- Tighten screw by turning it 90 degrees.
