Quick Wheel size question

Featured Replies

Looking to find myself a low mileage VRS TDI and it seems most of the cars have 17'' Zenith alloys.

I have found one with 18'' zeniths though.  Is this correct or an error in the advert?  Seems odd for 2 sizes of the same wheel to have been available as normal the different sizes would be a different wheel design.

2 sizes we're available so yes there are 17" zeniths and 18". Not sure why there was 2 different sizes but maybe someone else will know.

Okay fantastic.  That changes tomorrows plans then. Only got the 1 car to look at now!

You are choosing which car to buy purely on it having 18" rather than 17" wheels!!!  Surely there are more important options that may be fitted or not?

The 18" wheels were free upgrades (along with various other bits) for quite some time from at least 2007. I presume the car with 17" wheels was made before that?

Wow! How very judgemental of you! Obviously wheel is not the only thing i am basing my choice on but it is one of the factors i am using to chose a car.

Not just the 1 car tbh but i have been looking at cars around 07/08 so that would make sense and the 2 i was going to look at were a 57 and an 08 plate.

Not judgemental.  Just truly astonished that anyone could put optional 18" wheels instead of the standard 17" ahead of sat-nav, parking aids, HID headlamps, etc., etc.  My quick read of your original post gave me the impression that 18" wheels were your prime requirement.  I was obviously wrong - apologies.

Thanks.  It's just the wheel size was all I needed an answer about.

As far as I can remember, the early vRS models came with 17"s and even the jumbo box and rear electric windows were optional

I'd rather have 18s than an 8 year old sat nav.

18s were options on early mk2s, as was the jumbo box (which included 2zone, rear e/w) and cruise. By 2007ish most dealers were adding these options at no cost and shortly after they became standard. My 07 car came on 18s with the option code for 17s printed in the book.
