good bye Disco3 forum hello Briskoda!

Featured Replies

I've just written a long and grateful goodbye on the disco3.co.uk forum which has been invaluable for the advice on the many and expensive failings of my land rover discovery and so here I am saying hello here.

I've got sick of land rovers (had 4 and the posher and newer they got the more of a pain they've become) and I've just ordered a Superb elegance estate TDI 4x4 with more extras than Ben Hur and the payments on 0% finance next year will be less than the repairs on the Landy in the last 3 months.

Also looking forward to a warranty but hoping to not need it if I've done my research well and I'll be coming here not to find out whats wrong with my car but to talk about nice things like winter tyres and fuel econonmy somewhat higher than 18mpg!

I hope I've chosen the right car to replace the family pet and hope it will be a lot less trouble and cheaper to run but just as practical in the snow of the Peak Dsitrct and ski trips and lugging bikes and camping great all round europe.

I wish there was a 'Scout' version of the Superb, then it really would be the Audi A6 killer (my head made me buy a new superb rather than a used all road and risk being the same situation as I was with the Landy out of warranty and running lots of expensive technologies.

Hello Paul and welcome to Briskoda,

I know nothing about the Superb, but think you'll find a superb bunch of helpful folks on here...HaHa. Corny, but it's true! Happy Skoda motoring, let us know when you get it and maybe post a few pix.

If I can put in a plug for Freedom Membership, it cost me just £20 for two years, great value for a 24/7 source of help, inspiration and entertainment that runs 365 days a year!

Richard

Welcome from me too, Paul. :)

welcome ;)

Welcome to Briskoda sheffieldpaul :)

Its a great site, and you'll find loads of useful info and helpful people on here to answer any questions you need to know

As said Freedom is worthwhile if your planning on sticking around (It really is a bargain for what you get out of the site) and thanks to Richard for pointing it out.

BTW Which part of Sheff you in fella?

Im Ecclesfield, but I have a feeling your the other side of the city.

Anyway, enjoy the car when you get it, and the site in the meantime

Regards

Damo

Bit like the Octavia Scout IMO

Welcome Aboard it's a fantastic Forum. I have had two Superb's a 170 Elegance which i ran for 4 years nothing broke Or Fell off no warranty issues just paid for consumables and Services. I then ran a 140 Elegance for a Year Again 100% pain free, think you have made a fantastic Choice in Getting a new Superb enjoy it When you get your hands on it.

Did the same thing last July from '54 D3 to Yeti.  For the same reasons as yourself.  Loved the D3 and had it from 9 months old.  Plenty went wrong in 8 years and while I could rebuild a Defender from chassis up, it's much more difficult with a D3 - everything seems to need setting up with a computer diagnosis thing, etc..  It just got depressing, and when the transmission locked up completely it was too much.  Yeti is lovely, then think of what I miss about the D3 - think again about what I have just written - Yeti is lovely again! It performed brilliantly on Christmas Eve to rescue a friend stuck on the far side of Killhope felltop (A689) in the snow, the Offroad button for hill descent works as well as the D3 did.

It is our 8th Skoda, we also replaced the Roomster with another in April.  The rest of the family got a Fabia and Citigo as well.  Thanks to Telfords Carlisle for great service

Welcome  :hi:

I've seen a few people move from Land Rovers to Skodas.

I went from a Defender and a Range Rover TDV8 to a Yeti a few years ago.

Never looked back.  Didn't miss the regular trips to have silly little things fixed either on the more complicated cars.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Hi and welcome aboard.

You'll love that car, I'm sure. Even if you don't, you'll still get envious looks from those in the know.... :)
