Repainting the brake disc dust shields

Featured Replies

I'm slowly ticking the boxes on the tidying bits programme (repaint the spoiler, new badges, etc) and want to repaint the rear brake calipers as these are beyond tired and also want to repaint the brake disc dust shields. At some point in the past, when the wheels were given a dealer blowover, the dust shields got some silver overspray and they look a bit cack.

What sort of paint do I need for an OE finish? It looks to be non-textured, unlacquered flat black - can I get some stoneguard or will this have texture to it?

I've never seen mine new so can't comment.

I'm waiting for better weather to pressure wash and black hammerite my dust shields, assuming the winter salt hasn't completely eaten them.

I'll be doing the callipers too... so much time to decide on a colour.

Colour would be nice but it's a fine line between stylish and loud eyesore!

Maybe black, black and more black!

I don't really want to use Hammerite on these, I don't want them to be glossy or shiny, just a flat black like they came from the factory.

Get some chassis black from Frost. I think they do a range of Gloss and Satin finish.

Brill thanks

I would imagine with heat and dirt Hammerite would soon lose its shine and become matt looking.

Never did on my calipers. Stayed shiny and Hammerite looking for ages.

Try POR 15 from frosts it's very good stuff used it on subframes wishbones etc
