Uneven Idling

Featured Replies

O6 plate 2.0TFSi VRS.

Idling has started to creep up to 1500rpm then drop to 850 then go back to 1200, drop and back to 1200 etc.

After a quick google and search on here it looks like its almost 100% the pcv valve.

Can you buy these online anywhere? If not how much are they from the dealer if anyone has purchased one recently (with gasket too)

Cheers Rob

Yes mine was same problem as you my friend pcv valve quick fix dont know cost a friend had a spare and fitted in about 10 minutes hardest part getting engine cover off.

Ive done the engine cover a few times after a bout of faulty coil packs, pain in the backside those covers are.

Replaced mine last year, think it cost around £18 from the dealer, didn't bother replacing the gasket just used the original one after removing the old PCV carefully. Solved the lumpy idle.

As you've already had the engine cover off a few times it should be a very straight forward job.

hardest part was actually ordering the bloody thing from the dealer, as they had no idea what a PCV valve was, and seemingly had a completely different name for it.
