TalkTalk - good or bad?

Featured Replies

Keen to get fibre, ditch Sky and save money.

Can't get Virgin but am looking at TalkTalk.

Anyone with them? Good or bad, comments and feedback appreciated.

Fibre with Sky is unlimited and not that expensive especially if you go via such as Quidco.

In my experience. Bad.

Paid installation fee then they missed 3 appointments wasting 3 days holiday at work. Eventually got a refund.

Sky fibre awesome, plus 6 months half price just now.  I nearly jumped ship to TalkTalk but bailed at the last minute. I think the fibre service should be as good as Sky (it's the same underlying service) but their rep for customer service doesn't inspire confidence. I've heard good and bad so it's not consistent. I think if you have no problems they're fine, if you have any issues they struggle to handle them. But as I say this is all just what I've heard from others and I've got several family members who've had no issues at all.

TalkTalk phone service is good, but their internet is a very mixed bag, when it is good, it is good, but when it is bad, it is VERY difficult to get them to do anything.

Add to that their historical (almost literally going back to pre-history), record of effing up peoples bills and payments and I wouldnt touch then with an extended barge pole.

I remember back when they were still called Tiscali, they were sending debt collectors out after people who had NEVER even been customers!!!

From my experience BAD. Hidden charges galore. Over 4 years ago so can't say what there like now.

Well im with talk talk and never had a problem, but have had a lot of bad press

I'm with them too. ADSL was not good but fibre better. Getting 35mb down and 10mb up connected wired.

just left them BAD BAD BAD wrong bills unable to fix faults quickly and call centres useless, gone to sky!

You should judge an ISP by the way it handles faults and complaints; TT have always come bottom of the heap in these areas, although there have been signs of improvements if you look at complaint figures over the last 12 months.

OK a mixed bag but on the whole BAD!

Already with Sky - can I still get deals via someone like Quidco for Fibre?

To be fair never had a problem with Sky in the 10+ years I've been with them.

Did anyone forget to mention, BAD! :D

I was on bt fibre which was rock solid if not blindingly quick at 20mb average.

Now on sky fibre as they offered free standard BB for a year or half price fibre for the year.

Better speeds but they are now subject to all the DNS restrictions being imposed for link sites and this DNS sniffing does seem to have an impact on usable speed sometimes. I know they are necessary for protecting the future of film making blah blah blah but does tom cruise really deserve to be paid $50m for a couple of months work? Rant over..

Great .....

Until something goes wrong, then not so good !!

If TalkTalk were the only telecomms provider in the world I would rather use carrier pigeon!

Good whilst working but a nightmare to deal with if you get a problem.

Same here

As above, its generally ok when its working. Its the problems people have getting things sorted when things go wrong. Usually even the easiest of things can take a long time to resolve.

I am with BT, but have work colleagues with TT and they usually come and ask us in IT support for help before attempting to call TT.

I'm on BT infinity last test gave me 56mbs and over more than two years service has been great

You may be better calling Sky and asking to be put through to the Cancellations Dept and mention that you're reluctantly thinking of leaving. I've just had a look on Quidco and see that they're offering £100 cashback for the package you're after so use that as a bargaining tool!

Let us know how you go on.

A few people at work have tried. Have heard some bad things and none of them stayed with talk talk.
