Forge adapter fitted but is there an issue?..

Featured Replies

As per title,

Pig of a job...

Under hard throttle it constantly hiss's with a little flutter when coming off throttle.

Under normal steady throttle it's ok.

The forge site says it's nothing to worry about, something about the ecu adapting.

Anyone else had this?

My dv is a B so I know it wants the revision D so could that be the the cause?

Lots of issues reported with leaking boost on these adapters, I wouldn't touch one. I don't know how Forge get away with selling them.

Was only £16 brand new so worth a go.

Gonna fit the newest rev G dv and see how that goes, double check it all while I'm at it.

From forge's site:

Note, Due to the ECU controlled nature of the standard electronic diverter valve you may experience longer than expected operations of the atmospheric valve under certain operating conditions. This is not a fault in any way, the ECU controls the turbo pressure via the solenoid valve in order to improve driveability and soften the take up of power. In the same way you may also experience non operation of the valve under enthusiastic gear changes, this is also not a fault. It is determined by the ECU that the recirculation is not required at this point due to the rapid re-appliance of the throttle

Ok but I'd do a google search too.

Can't find any bad reports on the actual adapter just the noise it makes is not to everyone's taste.

Never had a problem in my old one run it for a good 5 months

Looks like the diaphragm has split in several places!

  • Author

Thought as much and your the 2nd person to confirm it.

Revision G it is then....

Hmm they look very equal splits, normally you get one big tear. Did the adapter do that?

  • Author

No, this is what it was like when I removed to fit the adapter.

They do look like they are supposed to be there and not ripped or torn but I'm not to sure being fairly new to the tfsi.

Looks fooked to me, though the tears look suspiciously regular.

They are.

Non look like they are ripped/torn but are meant to be there?.

Here's one of mine in full working order

I must be lucky as I run 1.5 bar and have never had one tear yet.

That the G revision Martin?

Mines a B from what I can see number wise. Think I'd better get one ordered.

It's a c revision.

The diaphragm ones beat the piston type IMO.

  • Author

The new G is a diaphragm one I'm told. The D is piston type

That's right, I have both.

  • Author

G it is then.

Cheers

  • 5 months later...

How did you get on with this ? I'm having the same symptoms after fitting the spacer was whooshing for two days and now all I get is a small hiss and a lot of flutter.. Or compressor surge whatever you want to call it. Does any one know which revision is best and which will fit on an 06 tfsi and where I can get them from.. Tia

Fitted a revision D piston type dv and it's all fine now :)

The newest revision is a G which is an uprated diaphragm type. Lots of different views on which is better but the rev D has been ok for me.
