Pre-remap preperation?

Featured Replies

So, hopefully in a week or two I'll have some money to get a stage one map, are there any checks or things I should make sure are right before its mapped? Theres nothing wrong that I know of with the car, running pretty much as it should.

Dunno, full service?

I would think about having that done.

Any decent remap company should check over the car for fault codes before applying a map, because there is a risk that if something is amiss then things can get bad.

I was advised by R-Tech to:

Check there was no fault codes stored (if so, sort them obviously)

Give it a service or at least clean the air filter & fit new plugs & fuel filter.

Check there's no leaks, split hoses (although they will smoke test it at R-Tech).. mine was 'Tight as a duck's arse' thankfully.

Fill her with Optimax.

As above but remove standard air filter and fit pipercross panel filter

Not wrong as I went R-tech yesterday to meet up with another Briskodian whilst he had a stage 2 done, however r-tech have now booked it in for 3 days work before they consider doing the stage 2 for him. So if its due  a service then get it done and get a diagnostics check or go to the place where you are having it mapped and see if they can check over the car (although they should anyway) and pre warn you of things that need doing before your map.

Good luck

No need for a panel filter either!

That Briskodian was me :'( lol

Cheers for the info, it had belt and water pump changed 2 months ago so know thats good and oil will be new in a few weeks time. It would get a Cai at similar time to the map anyway so not bothered by filter. I would get them to check it over first if they weren't going to already, still another 7000 miles till next service.

Sounds like your good to go!

Fuel filter?  Doesnt often get swapped and not part of a service IIRC,

No need for a panel filter either!

Mine was Mapped at R-tech and i was told to fit pipercross panel filter before stage 1 map.

Paper is fine.  Better filtration.
