Millers Diesel Power Ecomax 500ml

Featured Replies

Evening Folks,

So I have 122,000 (fairly painless) miles on the fabia and the car is running normal.

Had the head gasket replaced, in the summer, after the dreaded coolant loss and it has been 100% successful.   Car running perfect.

Getting the car a major service next week as its due it.

My question is, would it be worth putting some "Millers Diesel Power Ecomax" (Halfords have it) in the car after the service perhaps?   I'm just curious to use it as the car is getting older and am guessing it will help lubricate the injectors (read this from some reviews) and in general, help the car, even though there is nothing wrong with it that requires the need to use this stuff.

Am just looking advice on whether its worthwhile or as the saying goes - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - just avoid it and continue with things as they are.

Thanks in advance.

I've been using it in mine recently. Can't say I've noticed any difference in driving the car but there is a noticeable difference in the amount of black smoke on hard throttle

I use it and get it from here.

Car seems to run smoother, whether its true or not and gives the benefits it says I don't know but I did get an improvement in mpg when I started using it, but can't say if it was coincidental or not but it only costs 2p to treat a litre of diesel so worth the punt IMO

The FORTE diesel treatment gets my vote. Really good stuff! You can't buy it off the shelf as it's meant to be a dealer/trade only thing but you can pick them up from eBay.

I run a bottle through at every service to keep things clean, the first time I used it I noticed a fair bit more black smoke than usual but it settled down after a while and my MPG also increased slightly so it must have cleared/cleaned something.

I see it as preventative maintenance to keep the fuel system and components in as clean a condition as possible. Won't do any harm.

I use it and have done for many years. It keeps the fuel system clean and gives a little more Cetane.  I think it works out cheaper than 'Super' diesels, (VPD etc). I've used their Diesel Clean and Diesel Power Sport 4 before that.

If you do buy some, I'd suggest double dosing it for the first 1 or 2 tankfuls.

Thanks for the replies  - as always very informative.

Think I'm gonna get a bottle of it, after I get the car serviced, and then - correct me if I'm wrong:

 - Wait until I need to fuel the car (say when its just above the red indicator or when the fuel light comes on)

 - Before I fuel, empty the contents of the bottle (or x2 bottles like Jim H has recommended) into the tank

 - Then fill the car up with say £40 of fuel?

Just wanna make sure I get it right and not mess about with the fuel system.

Thanks again

Not the whole bottle though, just the 50ml dosage x1 or x2.

You can't really go wrong, just pour it in and fill the tank. One bottle is usually rated to treat up to 60l of diesel so easily enough for the Fabia tank. You could add it to 1/2 a tank or add two bottles to a tank for a more concentrated effect if you wanted.

I wouldn't use it all the time though once a year at every service should be enough to keep it clean.

You can buy 'one shot boost' where you add half or the full bottle to tankful. Millers says 1 bottle treats 60l of diesel. They don't say anything about double dosing it (it's probably strong enough).

You can also buy a 500ml bottle which you don't obversely add the full bottle, it would work out very expensive if you did! You only add one full dose of 50ml to 50l of fuel (1000:1 ratio) by simply squeezing the bottle to a measuring chamber (on the bottle), then pour into tank. 2 measures if double dosing. I do it before filling with fuel. This means a bottle lasts 10-15 tankfuls and will work out much cheaper than the smaller 'one shot' ones.

I use forte diesel treatment in my car aswell in my dads customers vehicles. And tbh all the forte stock is brilliant. Ive used every forte additive on my car from gear oil additive to ac and inlet cleaner
