BMW M5 - Opinions?

Featured Replies

Ok, so I think I will be swapping my current car (Audi S4) some time in 2014.

I was going to go the logical upgrade route of RS4, and a damn fine car it is after having a loaner for a few day late last year.

However, a curve ball appeared in the form of a new M5. I can get a really cheap (relativey) deal on a 2year lease. So much so that I'm not sure I can turn it down :)

Question is, having never owned a BMW, what's it like. What's your opinion? Anyone had or driven the M5?

Ultimately its my choice, but I always listen to other peoples considered opinions :)

I haven't done a deal so not too bothered about getting negative views.

I'm sorely missing my E39 M5... do it!

Drift time

Much better driving experience than boring quattro

Just make sure it has the optional extra indicators ;)

Get the M5.

The end...

Why wait, get the M5 :)

No brainer, awesome car

Over the RS4?

Do it. :)

Interesting the lease rate is good though.

A few of the GT-R boys have one as a family car and buying under a year old have been getting massive discounts.

So BMW must be letting the leasing companies have them on the cheap.

What's the deposit and monthly amount?

I'd go for the M5 :)

After my 740i...I'd deffo have an M5

I think an M5 is on most petrol-heads dream car list. If you can you should.

My wifes uncle has only ever had M5's and won't buy anything else, i have driven them and they are perfect in my eye's.

Im obviously the pussy of Briskoda...   I'd nearly always go for the Audi equivalent simply for the all weather benefits of the quattro drivetrain (and I prefer the styling both inside and out). If the rates were that good (what are the figures?) then id certainly not turn it down and on a two year lease its not going to cost much in maintenance either. The E39 M5 is still one of the very best barges Ive ever driven in my lifetime. :)

Not the only one ;) I love the 4wd.

I know it can be called boring, I prefer - predictable. Nothing better than getting all that power down on a wet, miserable day :)

Here we go.

New BMW M5 with no options: £74k list.

8 months old, 3,500 miles with nice options: £55k.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-13-BMW-M5-4-4-V8-560-DCT-MONTE-CARLO-VAT-QUALIFYING-/271351372182?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f2dcd5996

The leasing company has got to be getting a hefty discount if it can offset a £20k+ drop in under a year and low miles without passing that on.

Well I'm not sure if the deal is still available :(

It was from Eastern BMW, a main BMW dealer.

I have been pondering over it for a couple of weeks, and suddenly today it has vanished from the website. Deal was -

10000 miles / year

£2932 initial payment +23 months @ £586.

It was a retail lease plan so all figures included vat.

Going to ring them on Wednesday to see if it's still available or likely to return. They haven't even got a retail lease deal on the M5 anymore & the business deal has shot up aswell.

Interestly Mylbrook had a very good 4 year deal - £5000 + 47 x £399 (+vat) & that isn't showing today either :(

Did I read that as you can only do 1000 miles a year ??

Nah! typo, now corrected :)

I noticed a few "premium" dealers had good deals over the new year.

There was a C63 AMG estate, a year old with 8k on the clock reduced from £42k to £38k that I half had my eye on.

It's gone back up to £42k this week.

Thought quite hard about handing the Skodas in...

Bought another Yeti instead.

Having had an Rs4 and previously an M5 i would Say if you can still get the deal on the M5 go for it.Audi for the interior and M5 for the Engine and driving experiance Or if possible i would love to transplant the M5 Engine into the RS4 what a motor that would be :-)

Do it, but don't expect it to be any good in winter.

Er...would u think future M5 will have the xDrive as an option (like most BMWs can have now)?

Nope. The new M3 / M4 is rear wheel drive.

The 7 speed DCT has an official 'smokey burnout function' :D

Winter tyres / cheap runabout for the 3 days of ice we have had this year :)

Sorted!
