bike racks and carriers

Featured Replies

Hi mark, did you sort your bike carrier?

Then you've probably already decided on rear mounted, not my ideal but if it's gonna be better for you then go for it.

Is a Fabia going to big enough for you if you've got that much gear to hump around.

The only time we'll be lugging gear in the roofbox is for camping hols, so the Fabia should do fine.  It's either that or a Roomster (the wife likes both, but the Roomster isn't that much smaller than the C4 picasson we've got currently).

A lot of the places we go to cycle also have height limits on the car parks, so the rear mount makes more sense.  I guess that by the time both kids are on big enough bikes to warrant one going on the roof we will have changed cars so the point is probably moot

I'm looking for a 3 bike High Mount rack for my Scout. Anybody got a personal recommendation for one please? There are reviews all over the web for these things, but I'd prefer to trust in another members first hand experience.

I can't go roof mounted .....because of a roofbox :)

I did a lot of research into bike carriers, specifically high boot mounted ones for my Octavia estate (not Scout) and bought a Mont Blanc Reartek S3 (I bought last years model which is basically the same.

Not certain if the Scout has an extended plastic rear spoiler on top of the boot lid or if it is essentially the same as a standard Octavia. I know it won't fit a Vrs because if the spoiler.

It has been very secure in use, both bike to rack and rack to car. Even with three adult hard tail MTB's on board.

It's pretty easy to put bikes on and to fit to the car. I've been very happy with it.

With different fitting kits (c.£16) it will fit different cars. Like SWMBO's Fabia.

My only gripe is that it is not especially easy to fold up and store in the garage. If you can hang it from a wall / ceiling you'd not have to worry about it.

Price was pretty sensible for one with gutters. Obviously more than one that hangs the bikes from the frame with wheels free, but worth it IMO.

Am thinking of selling it as I'm fitting a towbar I got off another Briskodian and will source a towbar mounted four bike rack when I have.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Rear Bike Carrier on a vRS Hatch.

Just used for carrying the Frames, the wheels go inside the car.

No Tailboard is required as it is, Lights & Number Plates are clear with just 2 frames on the rack.

The weight is on the Bumper OK and not loading weight on the Glass or Rear Spoiler.

(care needs taken with the Metal Below the Rear Glass, be sure it can not Slip Up,

I put Gaffer tape above the Clasp on paint & protect the Glass Edge and then tape over it all.)
