Cup holders again?!

Featured Replies

Looking at getting a cup holder for down the side of the radio, but I have a few questions:

1- are the cup holders are from a mk4 polo?

2- how do you remove the panel from my dash without damaging the surroundings?

3- I presume there are some slots available to house the cup?

Forgive me for not searching currently, but I've just remembered whilst on my phone so will search again when I get home.

The side of the radio one is a skoda part. To remove trim you need to pop the fake button out at the top then I think the side piece comes out then there is a piece to unscrew

Think its 2 T20 screws.

Thanks chaps.

Has anyone done this to the it's? Was it a PITA job?

Reason I'm thinking of putting one in is because my work journey has doubled to over an hour and so a brew on the way to work sounds appealing.

Took all of 3 mins. Thats included walking to the car hahaha

It's pretty easy to do. If I can manage it with my fat fingers, I'm pretty sure most others won't struggle.

I found using a store loyalty card/credit card the best thing for levering out the blanking plate above the panel without breaking it (on recommendation of one of the threads about cup holders on here).

Easy to fit. Sometimes a pain to get it to clip closed again

especially if u have an after market stereo.

From this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/225422-oem-fabia-cup-holder-in-vrs/

Really easy to fit.

1. Pop top left button blank out
2. Pop heater control surround off
3. Undo top and bottom screws for blanking plate
4. Remove left blanking strip from radio (just pops off)
5. Push cup holder in down side of Radio and put the 2 screws back in top and bottom
6. Put heater control surround and button blank back in

Job done!

Skodaparts.com really good I find. Sometimes hard to find parts I agree but if you use the contact form they get back to you really quick with the link to the part you want. More often than not they crest new links and parts for whatever you want!

HTH

Planning to put one in myself in the next few weeks :-)

Very easy to fit in my opinion. Although you do have to press it in a bit harder to get it to close when you've got an aftermarket stereo fitted.

I bought mine off someone on here. Disnt use it that much as it doesnt hold anything very well. Cant hold a bottle. I had a massive can of Red Bull in it one day and put my bag on the floor, the strap caught it and snapped it straight in half hahahha oops. Im not going to bother with another one. They look cool but doesnt operate smoothly if you have an after market stereo. You have to pull it out.

That was my other option however where do you now throw loose change in the car for parking and tolls etc?

Oh dear god

£70 for a cup holder! Glad I don't drink tea, coffee etc! I find if I have to carry a drink in the car then a shoe on the floor works just fine.

I have all the three cup holders & the radio one has always been expensive because of the mechanism! Cheapest is the ashtray replacement for infront of the gearstick, which also includes trim around the gearstick!

I went for the ashtray replacement one, perfect for Mcdee`s coffee cups £9 with free P&P can think of better ways to spend 70 odd quid

Any tips for fitting the ashtray one, i can see 3 torx screws under the ashtray itself

Going to fit it tomorrow

Maybe keep a little bag in the glovebox, i hardly ever go to places where i will need to pay for parking unplanned so normally just carry change on me if i know i'm going to need it

I have the stereo cup hover and think it is total ****e in all honesty lol was installed when I got the car. I have a cup holder at the back and in the ashtray part which I think are pretty good though.

We just use the storage cubby to the lower right of the steering wheel for loose change. Drop it open/down money in/out then close it back up. :)

Cheers

Dave.
