timing chain tensioner

Featured Replies

been driving the car a little recently and its starting to sound asthough the timing chain is getting slack. I wanted to know if the engine has external adjusters for the tensioner? any help. thanks

Hi h39, regret no tensioners at all, either externally or internally, these engines do become rattlely with use & the only cure is to replace the chain & sprockets as a set. They used to be readily available & inexpensive. Try Paul ( skudman) at SKOPARTS INTERNATIONAL. See the Skoda forum on zeta boards, Pete, covskoda

Yep...he is right. Skoparts Int is your man. This is his Ebay advert for a timing chain kit and gaskets - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Estelle-Rapid-130-136-Timing-Chain-sump-gasket-timing-cover-seal-kit-/111249664318?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19e6ff293e

I personally don't think you need the gaskets if you're careful. Liquid gasket is your friend.....if you get in touch directly the actual chain and sprocket will be nearer £25. Best and easiest place is on his Facepuke site.....
