Non start 1.9 TDI BLT loom fire damage

Featured Replies

Brought a ibiza 1.9 tdi BLT a few months ago as a non starter with fire damage to the loom, no lights were coming on the dash other than mileage and time.

After some a chap has repaired the loom, all lights now come on, the car turns over at normal speed, but will not fire, if easy start is used, the car does something but sounds like a bag of nails, moment easy start is stopped, the car also stops.

The loom was burnt from the engine, through to the ignition switch.

A relay was replaced, and crank shaft sensor, we then thought it was the ECU, but this has been tried with a free running version, no immo, and still no luck.

All thats happening at the moment, is its turning over, after some time the oil light starts flashing, and I can here various relays ticking

any advise guys?

You need a scan with vcds mate then see what faults are there,

I have theres no faults, only thing that come up was a crank shaft sensor which i changed

check the entire fuel system, front to back and then back to front. Don't use Easy Start again. It tends to **** things up IME

What did you use to check the fault codes? Getting the loom ruled out would be good aswel.

When you crank the engine, do you see an rpm displayed or does it sit at zero?

Thats something i honestly did not look at, do you mean on vcds logs, or on the actual rev counter?

VCDS mate, full version, will get someone on checking the fuel

Rev counter

Why do you check if get rpm and what if you don't get rpm?

Got a problem with my car though it was running fine, I created a new thread.

Oil light flashing due to no start, is the lift pump running take pipe off filter to make sure diesel there, if not its not firing the injectors so suspect the in head loom is damaged.

As said if cam or crank sensors arnt giving correct results it wont inject fuel, and needs 250rpm on starter motor to start injection.

Made a video of it trying to start hope this helps?

Also noticed theres no noise of fuel coming through, normally when I turn the ignition on a diesel or even petrol u sort of hear the car priming, making a swoosh sound, theres nothing at all from this.

I think you still have a problem with the crankshaft sensor. Whilst you were turning the engine over on the starter, I would expect the rev counter to sit at 250rpm (ish). Have you checked for fault codes again?

something came up about the inlet manifold flap, but i cleared it and it hasnt returned after trying to start it again

aha is the anti shudder valve opening?

its mounted with the egr valve on end of inlet manifold, if its stuck closed it stops air going in.

The non priming sounds like dead lift pump

Its defo got an rpm signal as counter moves, but glow plug light is on all time.

Check loom in head to injectors
