Wing mirrors

Featured Replies

Might seem daft but do the passenger side wing mirrors have a blueish tint to them as standard? Not sure if one was replaced with a blueish one by mistake or if thats how they're supposed to be?

Both wing mirrors should have a blue tint to them..

+1

The complete passenger mirror I have for sale has a blue Tint to it. The drivers mirror did too I've already moved on.

Should have blue tint

And another problem solved and explains why the driver side, untinted one, isn't heating up..RESULT! lol. These mirrors just pop off with a trim tool like normal ones?

I just got a mint replacement which takes 10mins if you have little hands like me.;-) I provable would have cracked the casing. Give it a go and if it cracks theres loads of people on here with mirrors going

Think it depends on the year too, my December 2001 4x4 estate came with non-blue mirrors.

Well passenger is blue, driver is clear so hard to tell what came first

Mines a Y and both are blue.  I think both of yours should be too.

I've got a spare used blue tinted drivers door mirror if you're interested in getting a replacement?

heated mirrors, blue tinted eh??  mines a 2002 vrs, should I have these ?

Same year as mine so I'm guessing yep

I've only got the one, drivers side.  How does a tenner sound?

My 2001 Y estate does not have a blue tint, but they are both heated.

when replacing the mirror glass, try a scrapyard. Early A3, Golf MkIV and Fabia MkI mirror glass also fits :)

SimonJ- IS it new and boxed or used? Found them on ebay for 10-14 quid new

The ones on ebay for 10-14 quid new are not always that great, stick with OEM then you know what you have.

Those without blue an or heating have most likely had a mirror replacement in the past with non OEM parts.

Sticking with OEM is all fair and good if you have a newish car- when you're looking at a 12 year old motor with only another 5 or so years left in it there's not much point in genuine OEM if it's double the price new. More than likely the non tinted one is non OEM as the car wasn't overly well looked after and I'm busy getting it back upto looking and driving how it should (and getting things that should work to work) and that's going to involve alot of non OEM and custom parts especially on the pipework, exhaust, electronics etc. Things have moved forwards in 12 years since manufacture and it's a matter of using more upto date and modern stuff that are normally more durable. Certain tings of course have to remain OEM like interior trim panels and fixings but where I can I'll be uprating things to more modern stuff. This car is a project for the website and facebook page to show younger modifiers that you can get great power, great looks, great comfort and a great drive out of something on a reasonable budget. So far the car's standing me about 1800 quid which is after a stage 1 map, brand new bluetooth capable double din head unit and various other things- engine only has 80k on it as well. Its just a matter of bringing the rest upto speed as the interior is a little tatty so I'll be recarpetting it, and giving it a more modern feel with newer materials, hard mounting an android tablet for ECU data and ICE and other things. Also changing the clutch and flywheel this week or next with non OEM uprated parts and the same with brakes (only discs and pads for now). Once I have the downpipe sorted, intercooler and new FPR and a second map the car should stand me around 2500 quid and be running whatever we can squeeze out of the ko3s.

Don't get me wrong, VAG OEM is great stuff, it's usually very high quality but sometimes it's not worth the extra but it all depends on exactly what it is you're replacing

It's a used OEM mirror for an Octavia.  The Golf ones do fit but you need to extend the wires for the heating element.
