Red light on drivers door.

Featured Replies

Found it interesting while reading another post, that the red light on the drivers door is not to do with immobilizer. I had a look in handbook and it says its to do with "safe securing system" or locking the car. It says you can deactivate it but resets the next time you unlock and lock the car again. I'm getting to the point now, i dont know if its something i've done or not, but the red light on the drivers door is'nt flashing anymore, but the car is locked all round ?? Can it be reset anyother way ?

Try pressing the door lock button twice.

Try pressing the door lock button twice.

Just tried it three or four times, still the same. Was worth a try. Thanks.

Is this not the interior monitor sensor switch? On the drivers door, quite low down and always illuminated?

If so, it's to turn off the interior sensors. When you lock the car the interior sensors automatically enable, if for instance you have a person/people in the car and the sensors are active as soon as it senses movement the alarm will go off, the same as if you left the window open slightly and someone tried to put their hand in.

If you want to turn the sensor off, press the button, it will not change colour, this will keep the alarm on but anyone/animal inside can move around without the alarm continuously going off.

Hope that helps.

Thanks "Preston Motors" its the red light that you can usually see flashing from the outside of the car when you lock the door.

Oops, sorry NZ, I must have read the thread and forgotten it all within 2 minutes   so my reply was both pointless and useless.

I'm a bit stumped there, not really my forte, but Lee might be on to something there with regards to the double press, something rings a bell that there is some sequence to do the electric windows, this may also do the red light, but I am purely guessing.

Safe Securing

The central locking system can be equipped with a
safe securing
system. Locking
the vehicle from the outside causes the door locks to be automatically blocked.
The warning light flashes for around 2 seconds in quick succession, afterwards it
begins to flash evenly at longer intervals. It is not possible to open the doors with
the door handle either from the inside or from the outside. This acts as an effec-
tive deterrent for attempts to break into your vehicle.
You can deactivate the safe securing system by locking twice within 2
seconds.
If the safe securing system is not operating, the warning light in the driver door
flashes for about 2 seconds fast, goes out and starts to flash evenly at longer in-
tervals after about 30°seconds.

The safe securing system is again activated the next time the vehicle is unlocked
and locked again.
If the vehicle is locked and the safe securing system is deactivated, you can open
the vehicle from the inside by pulling on the door opening lever. The door is un-
locked and opened at the same time

Lee at Preston - there is no such thing as a pointless and useless reply to a thread by a Skoda dealer.  I wish other dealers would contribute as much to Briskoda as you do.
