I intend to have it fully loaded with cruise, arm rest and may have a removable sub fitted. That might drown the tyre noise?....

I found this Vid, which i had never seen before.

Good review.

My 2p's worth.

Depends on how fast you drive on the m'way.

At 70mph it's fine, but when I've been on a track and gone faster it feels unsteady at 90mph and a little unsafe at higher speeds.

Obviously you won't go above 70 on the m'way but worth thinking about for track action.

bobnaldo,

what tyres do you have on to have it feel like that,?

Abroad i find them fine at double UK National Speed limits and even at near double the UK Motorway speed limit.

It's got continental sport contact 2's on, which came with the car new.

I find the steering just gets very very light, then when I touched 100 mph at that track the car drifted across slightly, had that been on a m'way would have meant starting to change lanes without wanting to.

I just put it down the car's aero not dealing with high speeds?

ahem 144 mph on the autobahn, perfectly safe, felt solid and comfy 4 up + luggage..... maxxis Z1's ;) img0664tbi.jpg

Might be down to the tyres. I found the Sportcontacts on my VRS to be pretty miserable. Replaced with Michelins and made a world of difference both to ultimate grip but more significantly comfort and handling.

The right tyre has to be chosen for each individual application, and I'm not convinced Skoda got it right with sportcontacts (they were fine on a 3.2 Merc I had a few years back, for instance).

Tyres and tyre pressures make so much difference to a mk2 vRS that it is unbelievable just how much.

Obviously any vehicle can be effected by the tyres fitted,

but they are such a big factor on a Fabia vRS.

re Steering.

& anyone buying a used vRS,

should have it checked on VAGCOM, to see what it is set on for 'Electric Steering Assist .'  'Brakes Assist'  & 'XDS/EDL' Setting.

Some drivers might have the steering set to 'Less Assistance; on the steering', but some might have more steering assistance,

'Disability Setting',

& Dealers do not always check or put cars back to Factory Setting before selling that car.

its true they are oversensitive to tyres... I tried the kumho KU39's on the reccomendation of mytyre place (I beleive they thought they were good on cars they had tried them on!) but the dry grip was so poor on the vRS I took em off and sold them on ebay....
