Advice on N249 and N112 removal

Featured Replies

Thinking of tidying the engine bay. I have oil leaking from rear of cam cover and lots of sprayed oil under the inlet area. I need to replace thermstat and thinking of removing inlet mani for ease. So why the inlet is off, may polish or paint it along with cam cover. And whilst all in bits was also thinking of doing the N249 & N112 deletes.

My questions are, whst are the pro's and cons of this and is it likely to bring management light on?

Not bothering removing SAI as seems to be working ok and heard some people have reportedly put it back on after a week or 2.

Any comments welcome, thsnks in advance

Watching this thread with interest, as after decat, I don't see the point in secondary air pump... plus wanna do n249 bypass.

I've bought a resister for it but wanna know exactly what it is, why remove and how exactly..?....

The sai only works really for the first few seconds of starting the car. I found once I'd removed all the other crap mine ran & performed a lot better.

I bypassed my n249 last week and would recommend it to anyone. My turbo has a new lease of life, acceleration has definately improved too

As well as doing this guide fella's

As well as cleaning bay up, you reduce the risk of pipe breakages, boost leaks, splits etc .

Although a performance increase is not guaranteed most folks I talk to including my own experience have seen a quicker DV action, earlier boost and a general better feel of the throttle.

Sorry to hijack but bowders mate, what resistors do you use? Ive seen some on ebay ready made thats all

They are the 330 ohm 10w resistors from RS components.

i have also seen the ready made ones and ECS tuning do them to which makes life easier as they come with the plug.

like these which are cool

mind you my cell came on even after I fitted so in the end had them mapped out..

Some folks are lucky and the cell don't come on

Did your cel come on from the charcoal cannister? Mine makes such a loud ticking sound so wouldnt mind binning it

Nope, the cell was only for the SAI removed...

Upon looking into this further it seems im only wanting to remove n249 as ,n112 is for the sai which im not removing. Spent enough on the car already and not forking out more on remap for the sai!

To bowders

So with that in mind the method will be different from yours?

Youd be better bypassing it instead of removing it. Then it leaves the n249 in place so you dont need resistors. I should of done a guide when i did mine

Looking into bypassing then, where did you get vacumm from after capping off the n249?

From underneath the inlet manifold mate. I then capped off the PCV pipe i removed from the inlet

Seen this guide, im abit unsure tho as he seems to remove the n112 but doesnt remove sai so surely it wouldnt run right! Hav check when you get few mins

Also, if the pcv is capped off this will cause the the pcv to be non-functional?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

No just one pipe of the pcv that went to the manifold. This gets capped off when you do a simplifaction of the pcv system so i figured it cant cause any issues, which it hasnt.

Dv works same as before its just quicker

Cool, had a look today and noticed my dipstick tube is already broken hence the oil spray, i thought it might have been a pipe. All bits should be here for the weekend
