Octavia vrs fl cr dsg hatch front ride height issue

Featured Replies

Just replaced my 2010 Octavia VRS CR DSG hatch with a September 62 reg version from a Skoda main dealer. Car has only done 2300 miles from new (warranted, was an x demo). Wanted a very low mileage example, this seemed to be what I was looking for.

Before viewing, asked every question possible to be sure everything added up. On test drive, steering feel / balance did not feel spot on. Thought it was due to tyre pressures and was on dealers forecourt for sale for some time etc (was over priced previously) Did not check tyre pressures at time (car parked on slope), weather was really bad during at the time (December 14 West Country).

Part of the deal was a full service (service book stamped), tyre pressure check and 4 wheel alignment, all of which I was told had been done.

Collected car yesterday pm  (stayed overnight in Hotel), weather was lousy again (heavy rain and wind) + 320 mile drive back. Now have got car home, this morning I re-checked tyre pressures. 1.7-1.8 front  1.9 rear. Now 2.2 bar all round

Noticed gap between top of front tyre and wheel arch on both sides was noticeably larger than in should be. Sitting as if boot fully loaded. (explains steering feel / balance on demo)

Front nearside / offside floor to wheel arch height is 68 mm  spec should be +- 66.5  Rear 66.5 / 67  spec 66.5 (found a thread)

Front Spring dots red / pinky colour.

Will book in to local dealer to check over, but in the meantime any suggestions?

Thanks

Other than checking the shipping rubber isn't still in the springs it sounds like 1.5mm height is 2.2% above spec and rear is spot on to 0.75% above.  They are not very big numbers.

Never buy a car that doesn't feel right and think it'll be fixed when you go to get it.... it won't.  Been caught with that a couple of times over the years.

I used to sell new cars many years ago!  Rest of the car is as it should be. It will got sorted one way or the other. Wouldn`t be the 1st time I have rejected a new vehicle, Mercedes / Audi. First thing I thought about was shipping rubber, but could not see anything (sun was shining in my eyes). Suspension may settle, as it was only used as a demo, My local dealer will check car over, I will be in touch with Skoda technical + dealer.

Car been into local dealer on 24/1. No fault found, as car confirmed ok to EKTA spec for ride height (different set of figures). Re-checked wheel arch gaps again this morning, as now covered 500 miles since collected car.

Floor to wheel arch gap

NSF 68.5

NSR 67.5

OSF 68

OSR 68.5

Local KWIK Fit dealer in Southend on sea (great service bought winter tyres + twice a year swap over to/ from summer set), now has 4 wheel alignment system. Just had car checked FOC. (see attachment)

Skoda UK contacted me on Saturday afternoon. They provided a hire car for 4 days and were checking if everything ok. Told them car does not feel right and needs further checks made. Skoda with contact me next week, to discuss options / solution.

No ideas on what it could be, though I am in Southend with an identical vehicle if you would like to measure for comparison for some peace of mind.

GrahamVRS  That would be useful. Is yours a white one? There is a pm facility on here but don`t know it works! Previous car was also a Race Blue VRS had it for 3 years, so I know something is amiss.
