CR 170 dsg Yeti.

Featured Replies

The VW Tiguan has the 7-speed DSG available in both the 140 and 177PS versions. No 6-speed to be seen. How does that tie in

with too much torque in the Yeti?

The VW has a better/later developed box I believe.

Skoda don't get to use it.

That's a shame, but I suppose that's why Yetis don't cost as much as the Tiguan with comparable equipment. It

would be nice to think that the 7-speed box will appear in the Yeti at some time in the not too distant future!

Most kit filters down to Škoda eventually - usually a year or two after the two 'premium' brands

Probably why it's more reliable?

I never really enjoyed the torque curve on our previous PD 140 Passat Estate, especially after coming from a 1.8T petrol Passat estate, but the 170 CR engine is an absolute blast on A and B roads, with the super-smooth torque, that has a wider rev-band. Don't miss having to replace front tyres, worn down due to peaky torque surges from the PD engines

I'd expect to see it on the Yeti mk2 in (aprox) 3 years unless for some reason they feel the need to do a mid-model update.

Well at some point the gearbox factory would want to consolidate what it makes and ONLY make the newer gearbox. So you might see it in the current Yeti at some point.

170 is the 140 with a few factory modifications.

Yes, you can remap a 140 to 175.

But then you can also remap a 170 to 210.

I suspect people that have a 170 will say it's better (like me ;) ) not only for the higher horsepower but also the bigger brakes.

Although the 312mm brakes can be added to any Yeti.

Nothing wrong with a 140 as a daily car, still feels strong. But 170 obviously is a bit better...

Which is why I did both.....,, :D
