Benefit of changing gear box oil, Power asssisted steering oil?

Featured Replies

Car has done 115k and getting serviced, timing belt also due shortly.

By looking through the forums, gearbox oil and PAS seem to get changed about this time.

Spoke to skoda garage, they didnt seem to think this was great idea, and that if its working ok, leave it alone.

Similar thing with the PAS oil.

If these items are ok? Should they be left alone, or is it best practise to completely change the fluids as opposed to topping up? Has anyone done this noted its effects, good or bad?

My Skoda dealer told me not to change autobox oil until the car was having gearbox issues.

Big mistake it seems...

The service schedule leaves a lot to be desired and is targeted towards low costs for fleet owners and two fingers to second hand buyers. Skoda dealers it seems sing to the same hymnsheet...

Find an indy who knows what they are doing and take it there, get their advice

Yeah, went to reputable Indy also, they didn't flinch at it...

Should have said its a manual!

Just get it change its the best thing that you will do to your gearbox do the filter as well and get the gearbox rest as well. Gear change and power transfer will improve tremendously

I changed the gearbox oil in my old Octavia at 80k miles, it made a noticeable improvement to gear changes.
