Turbos manufactured in China

Featured Replies

hhmmm....... even though i know the chinese are very good at reverse engineering and creating pattern parts,

i dont know how much id trust the materials' quality over time... and if id spend every drive hearing every rattle/ click and ping as it about to let go...

Had a Chinese motorbike a while ago, absolute

sh£& very poor quality metals used. Nothing fitted properly. Avoid like the plague bud even the Chinese won't buy stuff manufactured in their own country, they prefer to import stuff.

Buy cheap buy twice.  Get yours rebuilt by a proper company.

Theres a clip on Youtube somewhere about some knobs in America who bolted a Chinese turbo to a dodge or something and it destroyed itself on the dyno while trying to get a base map sorted.

If it's been made by Garrett in China, then it's absolutely fine.

If it's a copy of a Garrett turbo made in China, then I wouldn't trust it to hold a door open.

Watch the footage of the containment testing in this video by Holset: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p8WWOXckH4

You don't really want a turbine wheel burying into your chest at 200,000rpm if it breaks free at full chat........

Who's got a good reputation for supplying refurbed Turbos ? There's a couple UK based on eBay selling KO3's but not sure who to trust.

Gone thru this just yesterday and was amazed at what I found ...

3 out of the 4 companies I rung said they would have to use my core even though I informed them my exhaust casing is cracked by waste gate ... Was told "don't worry that will be ok"

Thank god for midland turbos 345 + vat new core cases and all tickety boo ordered yesterday and to top it the guy I spoke to has a octy mk1 vrs

There you go only me two pence worth :)

Yeah Chinese copy hotside

That's what they use as you cannot get new genuine hotsides !!!!

I got to scrap ko3s turbos now are they worth anything or should I just make novelty items from them:)
