Positive VRS thread

Featured Replies

13000 miles done, 2.5yrs old. hasn't used a drop of oil.

Had some warranty work on a leaking exhaust clamp @ 1st yr inspection service.

No mechanical issues, the occasional de-sync with the remote keyfob. but otherwise a sound car.

Will be keeping this car for a few more years i think.

Good to hear - it's a forum and people who are happy with the car (like myself) are less likely to be vocal than people who have issues (not a dig at people who have had problems - in the main Skoda's responses seem to have been deplorable).

You get a lot of car and equipment for not very much money.

I've had two fabia vrs estate and they both bin very good this one need a new engine but all good now.

Had it just over 2 years and not had one problem. Recently looked what I will replace it with when lease runs out in Nov 14 - nothing comes close for the same £/5 door/ performance. I remember being bored of my previous cars (BM320d, golf GTD) after 2 years, this is not the case with the Fabia, I'll be sad to see it go. Drivers of other cars (usually Mercs and Audis) still seem to get peed off when a Skoda outpaces them, seeing them seething in the rear view mirror is definitely the best part of ownership.

36k miles, about 2.5 litres of topup oil used in that time. Only car I've owned that has needed no extra work at all, even niggly little warranty things when it's in for service.

Very cheap to insure given the performance too.

That's my favourite thing about the car, upsetting BMW/Audi drivers.

Brilliant car, I love it and it drinks oil like my last one, but bang for buck, you can't beat it.

Tony

I love my car :) I did 50,000 miles in my first vRS, and all it had in all that time was a new track rod end (that i dont think it really needed) it used a litre of oil in the first 10k, then nothing after (CAVE engine) I ran it with a TMC tuning box most of that time at 200bhp, no other mods... here we are on the airfield in Czech...

and 14k in my new vRS estate so far.... RARB eibachs yellowstuff pads ect , build thread is here :) no issues, uses a litre of oil every 6,000 miles... (CTHE engine, feels faster than the old one was with a tuning box on! hmmm must get it on a rolling road!)

The seats are very nice IMO.

When I sold it, I got all the money back I paid for it. ;)

I did actually.

I like mine because it still goes in extreme temperatures.

I know this is almost certainly 100% in my imagination but mine feels likes it's really loosening up as it approaches 20,000 - enjoying it more than ever - after tempting fate with this post the engine will probably go pop :D .

I don't know, mine feels more 'spritely' since it's gone over 20k too

I think you are right to think it loosens up at that sort of mileage.

At around 8,000-10,000 miles the Economy & performance does seem to improve,

and keeps getting a bit better.

Double that and all should be well, nicely loosened up and doing what it should do, nice free bearings, brakes, pads, etc all nice and free running.

Just feed it good fuel & some TLC and there is no reason for them not to go on 'Long time mister'.

When driven sensibly on my 25 mile morning commute (90% motorway) I can get these sort of MPG figures.

Wait til you get over 40k ;)

I'm loving mine. Just over 9k on the clock (bought from new May '13), used 1 litre of oil (no worries there), always brings a smile to the face when deciding to press on a little :)

Looking forward to the warmer weather and getting rid of these greasy damp roads!

Only had mine for a few weeks, Bought it Second Hand, Currently has 29k on the clock and I love it.

Got mine new with just 7 miles on the clock - Bought it before joining Briskoda so a bit worried when I read about oil consumption and replacement engines! Done 1500 miles so far and not had to top up the oil .  For the 1st 1000 miles I drove it like i 'bought it' and did not take it above 2500 revs in any gear. My only grumble is that my daily commute is @ 9 miles and the car is only just reaching optimum oil temp at the end of the drive - I won't boot it until the oil temp is at least 75 degrees so i don't get the complete 'fun factor' on the drive in :(. Another grumble  - what's with the speedo going from 80 to 100 mph with no 90mph in between? Has caught me out a couple of times :peek: (on private roads of course) .Other than that, I love every minute driving it  .
