Sunglasses holder closing?

Featured Replies

After 5 months of waiting my Octavia finally arrived today. On exploring its various cubbies I opened the sunglasses box, but now I cannot get it to shut!? Ideas?!

You push it closed and it'll catch.  The same way you press to open it.  You'll feel and hear it

Mine did the same on day 1..  Just keep trying - it works eventually.

If it won't shut first time, take the car back and reject it. HTH :)

Was it exceptionally sunning @ 7:24pm in Newbury then ?

Got it to clip up, but appears to be temperamental!

People on here have rejected cars for less than that...take it back to Skoda.

No, I am not serious.

It's a company car and so more trouble then it's worth returning it.

The lack of front assist is a larger annoyance!

Does anyone know if you can enter a postcode on the Amundsen?

Same question I first asked, so I will pass on the answer I got.. :-)

Click on the street in the satnav and there is a small button on the bottom left of the screen 'pstc' I think or something similar. That is where you enter the postcode.

there are many PDF's online if you haven't got the manual.

Simply push and click with mine...

I was having a look around the car interior and opened the sunglasses holder. I couldn't get it to close. It wasn't that it wouldn't catch; it was meeting no resistance at all.

While poking around the catch, I caught the clip on one side with my fingernail and found that it and the matching clip dropped down a few millimetres. Closing the holder, it caught. Opening it again, and the catch stayed out of reach until I pulled it down. I'm guessing that the spring in the catch is missing.

As it happens, I wear glasses, so my sunglasses are prescription and I carry them about in a case. I have no need for the car's holder. I'll probably never open the holder again, but I might mention it when the first service comes round and get it fixed (for the next owner).

Mines only sticks in cold weather. Once the car heats up the catch works as it should

I don't remember seeing a sunglasses holder in mine....

It comes with the SE and all the trim levels derived from it (i.e. every car other than the S) and is positioned immediately behind the front interior lights. (It's shown at the bottom right of page 10 in the brochure.)

Ah, right where the sunroof controls are.

I've had the same problem with my Black Edition and spotted it on collection. It was fixed under warranty.

I had the same issue with my 2 hours old car, they had to replace the latch and the cover.

I noticed this when pre-checking the car a few days before collection. It was fine when I collected it and the dealer claimed there was no problem with it.

I never did get round to telling the dealer. However, during a panic** when I thought I'd be contacting the dealer and had better report the sunglasses issue at the same time, I found that the latch problem had gone away. I'm assuming that the last time I thought I was applying the temporary fix, I'd actually manoeuvred the latch into its correct position.

** -  I hadn't seen how I could use the key to unlock the door if the key fob battery failed. The panic is now over, but only after extreme measures: I read the manual.
