LED kit for the pre-FL combi (and DRL and fogs)

Featured Replies

note: no connection to the company named below, other than as a happy repeat customer! I'm posting this as its handy to get the lot in one place, and as always, the support from them is top notch, and i've read a lot of threads on the topic of LEDs, so.....

Hi

so just to share this one. I've gotten several LED kits over the years from EM tuning for a few different audis and a VW or two, and when I picked up my superb, it did lack that little lift that the LEDs give the interior. I also wanted to "whiten' the fogs and drls. so rather than collect up a ton of random LEDs and assorted stuff from ebay, i wanted a kit.

so after talking to the guys in EM and running through the lights fitted (and the part numbers for the bulbs) i got a kit in the post to replace all the interior lights, the fogs, the DRLs, the number plates, and i added in two halfods w5w's to handle the mirror puddle lights.

i replaced all the roof & dome lights (I have the panoramic roof), the footwell lights, the glovebox light, the trunk lid lights, the number plate lights, and the mirror lights with LEDs, so basically all the interior lights and the replaceable exterior ones. two grainy pics of the driver's side seat below.

I replaced the main beam assist with halfords ultra brilliance H3's, which i've used before and was quite happy with. for the fogs, a straight swap for a set of whiter H8's and for the DRL, a LED with a decoder (all supplied from EM).

in the pic above, the main xenon and high beam assist h3's are on, along with the left hand side side fog and DRL, which all match pretty well. The decoder is sitting behind the fog, and the connections waterproofed with self amalgamating tape.

I'd followed the various threads on here re: LED DRLs and whiter fogs, and also noted some of the issues wrt the monitored LED plate lights.

Everything was fine apart from the number plate lights, which were chucking an error on the dash. I took a quick look with VCDS, and in the central convenience module (09) in the long coding helper, byte 17, you can turn off the number plate pulse modulation check, which gets rid of the error (see below) when you use LEDs in the plate license holders.

overall, very happy with the results! and good to be back with a superb again :)

after saying thanks to the guys, they did mention that they are more than happy to supply this lot as a kit, so if you are interested, feel free to reach out to them at [email protected]

Like I said at the start, not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer!
