Busy morning for me. Dropped off the Superb estate courtesy car to Skoda and picked up my VRS estate after coil recall. Had a seat in the new VRS and want one. Then off to accident repair garage to get an estimate for insurance repair on my boot. Google maps took me on a fecking round the country site seeing trip to get to the place.

Got a free visual health check from Skoda and I've got a number of things to sort in the near future - some simple things like the bulbs I'll tackle :whew: :

  • NSF sidelight bulb inop - will replace with some Osrams - not bothered about LEDs unless anyone really recommends these
  • High level brake light inop - hopefully get repaired on the accident repair work
  • OSR indicator bulb flashing too much white? Going to replace the whole set for those chrome numbers
  • Inner CV boot insecure
  • Secondary air pump starting to separate - quoted me £500+ to replace LOL. Has started to make a loudish noise so been checking out the fixes for this
  • Front tyres 2mm
  • Rear tyres 1.6mm
Think I've still got a flat spot in 2nd so not sure what next to check.

The high level brake light is a sealed unit that is bonded to the spoiler, it was about £60 when I changed mine a couple of years ago.

I'm sort doing the opposite of "work" at the moment lol

To be fair, I'd look like a monster if I had a wet a**e!!

Was at a funeral last year, it prained so hard at the burial that everyone was looked like we had been to a sea burial and had gone down with the coffin!

load of people living local went home, and changed before going to the meal... forgetting to dry their car seats. instant soaked arses straight after getting dried off :giggle:

It was a lady who stopped.......swmbo kept a watchful eye too:)

Not sure what monster the lady was more impressed with. The one under the bonnet or the one in the passenger seat lol.

an even rarer event!!!! She probably reckoned by your car's cared for appearance you couldnt have a swmbo in there wen she puled up ....

Didn't see the 'estate' bit.

I finally managed to put in a new wiper motor, my wipers no longer over wipe both below and to the right of the windscreen! hooray! :D

I also showed my girlfriend how to change the air filter and I stuck a new pollen filter in whilst I was there as I was worried mine was damp. Turns out it wasn't, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing as my car have been getting very damp inside lately.

Think today I may  give it a clean. oh and start replacing vac hoses.

Hope you didn't trap your fingers changing it like I did when I was giving it the once over lol

Have you had a good feel around all the footwells for any water? Also check the 2 recesses in the boot and see if it's wet- I had water coming in to the passenger footwell which was just blocked drains in the scuttle and a leak in the boot caused by the boot hinges which I simply resealed. Also got a small one going into the tailgate itself which I'll eventually track down

Not found any specifically wet places, the reason I suspected the pollen filter may be damp was that the if you turned the fans onto econ when cold it misted up the screen in the cold weather.

IF you put air conditioning on when it's cold it does on most cars I've owned, when it's cold I have it blowing down at my feet but I like toasty toes though lol

+1 on the cold Aircon fogging windows. even in weather that's just humid enough can do it sometimes. might not actually be any problem..

another trick used for my old car was getting one of those tubs of dehumidifier stuff for caravans.

i carry rain gear around which tends to dry out in the boot...

Aye Mac, I keep the pound shop tubs of that in the boot. When they're done just bin and replace. I find tucking one behind the carpet where my CD tray was works and keeps it out of site, can use the sticky velcro pads to secure it if necessary

Just did my front brake pads then the heavens opened so rears are next week now.

Need to sort out my rears at some point, one disc is scored so grinds a bit. Let me know how you get along and if there's anything awkward to look out for

I've done the front and rear brakes a few times, very easy. Nothing special needed, just a piston wind back tool. :)
