What's everyone working on this weekend then?

Featured Replies

Like the topic reads- got any outstanding jobs on your motor you're sorting out this weekend?

I desperately need to sort out some rust repairs but the weather is just shocking up here with rain and freezing weather so bodywork repairs are a no no along with stripping back and repainting my calipers red. Stoopid weather!! Already popped off the charcoal canister and bypassed the n249 so not much in the engine bay I can do for now bar possibly steam cleaning it.

Guess I'll be checking and double checking again to see where this stupid leak in my boot is coming from- checked the normal stuff and done some preventative sealing just in case so probs the seal, fed up of the carpet stinking.

PS And if anyone wants a stock head unit and cd unit then let me know- the cd thingy has no tray though.

I'm planning on doing a gearbox oil change this weekend weather permitting. I've also bought some new gear cable ends so I've got them to fit and a gear alignment as my gear change is awful. My calipers are also due some paint but I'll be leaving that til some sun gets out!!

Only thing with my gears is they're a little loose but pretty sure it;s just the bushes, on my list of minor niggles lol.

Aye, this rain and cold is well and truly doing my nut in!

Im getting my blown turbo off my old mk 1 l&k.

Oh that'll be fun lol. Get ready for chronic neck and shoulder ache after that hehe

Not car related but I'm fitting new skirting boards in my lounge.

lol..We just had a gale and rain but stopped again...friggin weather

Busy morning for me. Dropped off the Superb estate courtesy car to Skoda and picked up my VRS estate after coil recall. Had a seat in the new VRS and want one. Then off to accident repair garage to get an estimate for insurance repair on my boot. Google maps took me on a fecking round the country site seeing trip to get to the place.

Got a free visual health check from Skoda and I've got a number of things to sort in the near future - some simple things like the bulbs I'll tackle :whew: :

  1. NSF sidelight bulb inop - will replace with some Osrams - not bothered about LEDs unless anyone really recommends these
  2. High level brake light inop - hopefully get repaired on the accident repair work
  3. OSR indicator bulb flashing too much white? Going to replace the whole set for those chrome numbers
  4. Inner CV boot insecure
  5. Secondary air pump starting to separate - quoted me £500+ to replace LOL. Has started to make a loudish noise so been checking out the fixes for this
  6. Front tyres 2mm
  7. Rear tyres 1.6mm

Think I've still got a flat spot in 2nd so not sure what next to check.

Good list to keep you busy lol. I bought a pack of 10 bulbs off ebay for the high level light- cost 6 quid or something but the thing takes 12! I just checked the old ones and picked 2 that worked to make up the numbers. Get yourself some silvered indicator bulbs, not much more than normal ones and look much nicer.

When they had mine for the coil packs I had CSV boot damaged and clutch heavy to depress. They quoted about 1600 quid to replace a clutch on it! Dear me, what are they playing at. It was on my list of things to do as it's slipping like a bugger so SMFW conversion it is lol.

weekends for working on my drinking arm and seeing if i can beat last weekends hangover :giggle:

I have been looking at the headlight height adjustment motors, found out n/s one works too a certain extent but the o/s is goosed, no movement from the motor at all. Also found out the o/s indicator is slightly different shape to the n/s one. So that will be one headlight height adjustment unit, one indicator and rear pads and discs to buy next week.

Check out Skudmans thread, done both mine, good as new for the price of a small tin of petroleum jelly.

Illumination on boost guage, fitting new turbo, sump pick up pipe , full service, and fitting the briskoda sticker to the rear window......

Need to wash it before it goes for its custom map tomorrow.

I cut out the worktop and put a new (larger) kitchen sink in.

On topic, nothing.

My current "fiddling with car" is in being sprayed.

Attacked cleaning the car sears today as they were soo dirty. I sprayed the car seats with this cheap carpet/upholstery cleaner got from home bargins and I can't believe how clean they have come up. Forgot to tell mrs and we went out and guess who got a wet a*** lol. Left ignition on whilst waiting for swmbo and had flat battery. (Guess who got there own back.lol). No sooner I had I lifted bonnet when some helpful car owner had parked up next to mine offering help thus restoring my faith in the human kindness. Also cleaned off what can only be described as a flying cow load of crap on my bonnet and wings.

the guy that stopped was probably just itching to get a look under your bonnet at the (very shiny clean) monster that lives there :)

it is nice when people are willing to to take time to help a stranger out of a pickle though... its rare.

On topic - this weekend im re-insulating a section of my attic, and water tank and pipework after moving the tank a couple of weeks ago.

then finish flooring out the new larger floor space for storage / my shed.

Car wise - fuel her up, clean her out. no point washing given the ****e weather...

It was a lady who stopped.......swmbo kept a watchful eye too:)

Not sure what monster the lady was more impressed with. The one under the bonnet or the one in the passenger seat lol.
