  • It doesn't matter how poor it becomes.  I find it a relief to watch something on the telly  that I don't completely HATE like most of the crap she likes to watch.  My missus has spent over a dozen

  • I'd rather watch Chris Harris on YouTube. Top Gear was one of the few things I watched on TV, but it's just the same old gags/humor and little real car content now. Watched the first episode of the

set to record, see how it goes......

I just take TG for what it is, three blokes who like cars doing stupid challenges for no reason. It stopped being informative a long time ago. That said, the Ford Fiesta review was very good, as were the reviews for the Twingo (Ross Kemp died to make that) and the Yeti-with-a-helicopter-on-it review was bob on. :)

Exactly my thoughts on it Lee!

Looking forward to Top Gear being back on on Sunday :)

I'm looking forward to it. The TG hate is always amusing, it's essentially a light hearted blokes being funny show that happens to have cars in it but seems to get people so worked up!

Re the 'old' hot hatches, it's a mk2 Golf Gti, Nova Sri and an XR2. Sad there's no 205, but a nova? Really? Haha

A blooming nova...........hardly a "hot hatch" i had one when i was 18,a mk 1 golf gti & a mk 1 fiesta xr2 would be ok,even a astra gte 16v would be better than a mk 2 golf gti,no pug 205 gti........shame on you top gear!   :finger:

The hot hatch feature is brilliant so far.

Nova's were quite good back in their day, that SRi proved the quickest of the three in the hill climb.  Even a 1.2 Nova would do an indicated 75mph in 2nd gear.

Good so far. It's never to be taken seriously. DRIVE is supposed to be for "car enthusiasts" but seeing cars drift in every test does get tiresome too.

I was actually crying with laughter when they were going around the supermarket!

They really do have the best jobs in the world!!!

I had a Nova SR when i was 19.....that poor car took so much abuse but was a laugh to drive (loud exhaust & all)

The bit about how easy the Nova was to steal got a genuine guffaw from me ... was it really that easy or were they taking the pee a little? With it being a car from the 80s I could believe it, a bit like the old Fords having one of 6 key layouts :D

This bit was 100% true. There was a rumour you could do this with a Mk3 Astra but I never tried with mine

Me too when Hammond came sliding on his side across the finish "Annnnnd, across the line!" hahaa

Instantly reminded me of this episode

The part where he 'pulls over' to talk at a 3 wheeler meet had me in stitches. 3:05

:D

My dad's first two cars were both Reliants, he was crying laughing watching that episode!

I don't even care how staged it obviously is. It's an entertainment programme, not a car programme! It's one of the funniest programmes on TV without question. Tonight's episode was the best I've seen in a long time!

Except when they go to America of course.... as they're not allowed to be 'entertaining' ha ha!

This is how the Mk2 Golf was reviewed and how Top gear was like, back in the day.

That Opel at the top of the show is horrendous!

Did anyone notice how the usual girls who are pushed to the front, and sometimes aren't that bad looking, were all completely minging today??? :D :D

the one who was originally on Hamsters left was later on behind May, and there was another one behind Hamsters left shoulder. They both flicked their hair many times :D

I still would've, I'm not gonna lie!!!

My mrs noticed the munters too lol

I find it a relief to watch something on the telly

that I don't completely HATE like most of the crap

she likes to watch.  My missus has spent over a dozen

years trying to burn my eyes out with a hand picked assortment of

utter toss from the tv guide.

Even if each week the show only consisted of Richard Hammond loudly revving a parked

Vauxhall Astra whilst Clarkson repeated racist, classist and any other kind of ist

slogans through a megaphone! With James May in the background repeatedly walking

into a lampost and exclaming 'C*ck!' each time he did so I'd still watch it. Just to have control

of the remote for half an hour a week if nothing else.

Amen.

Lord save us from Downton Abbey and Sex and the City reruns
