  • It doesn't matter how poor it becomes.  I find it a relief to watch something on the telly  that I don't completely HATE like most of the crap she likes to watch.  My missus has spent over a dozen

  • I'd rather watch Chris Harris on YouTube. Top Gear was one of the few things I watched on TV, but it's just the same old gags/humor and little real car content now. Watched the first episode of the

Good Spot, thanks Lee

Excellent, they never seem to give it enough advertisement and I usually miss the first one.

Hmmm long time since I have watched Top Gear, probably because I can't stand the presenters, especially Clarkson. He makes a lot of money from kids merchandise so being a tw*t and refusing to sign my little cousin's autograph at Goodwood is not impressive lol. Apparently Hammond is just as obnoxious(don't know about May)

Anyway I am sure the new series will be fun for those that like that sort of thing :P

I believe at some point or another  all 3 presenters have said never meet your heroes.

And I can't remember where Jezza said it, but I remember him saying it at least once.

I met the Stig and he's really ignorant, just stands there and looks at you blankly.

Not really, never met any celebs other than touring car and super bike drivers/riders.

Lol Outofthisworld:nicest car guys I have met are Villeneuve, Johnny Herbert and Schumacher M (last really surprised me how nice he was) when I helped my uncle out back in the late 90s when he did the F1 circuit selling merchandise. The horrible F1 drivers where Damon Hill, Eddie Irvine and Nigel Mansell: all of who either gave you the brush off or hid away. I guess that thing about meeting heroes is true!

I know it doesn't aply to all of them, ad probably only the minority to be honest, but it's that risk that you don't always want.

Some of the touring car drivers are a bit arrogant but at Croft at least, they have a pit walk where everyone can get autographs from all the drivers and it's crowded as hell!

The super-bike riders are great, got to sit on one of the bikes and have a photo taken once.

Best of all of them are the drivers/riders in the lower classes, a driver called Fulvio Mussie gave a great welcome when he was driving in the Seat Coupra championship, got this photo:

He was working for AMD Milltek last time I looked I believe although not as a driver (shame because he would be better than Hollamby)

I can't wait

I'd rather watch Chris Harris on YouTube.

Watched the first episode of the last series and didn't bother with the others.

I'm looking forward to this series purely to see the Mclaren P1 in action :-)

The ads for it have been quite subtle.

@Bossfox exactly: Chris Harris is a damn good driver and has a sense of humour but he knows that the main area of interest is the car and not himself. The Driven channel is a must subscribe for his posts but just ignore the jabbering yanks which constitute most of the posts (it's a US channel)

His mate Steve Sutcliffe from Autocar does good videos on the Autocar channel too. He is also a top bloke (best friend of a buddy of mine). He also knows how to steer.

What happened to the Top Gear special they use to do on Boxing Day?

Excellent news :)

What happened to the Top Gear special they use to do on Boxing Day?

I think they've stopped them because the last couple of been rubbish.

rumours are that the TG Christmas special will be in March, around Easter time :giggle:

First episode this time around is apparently them arguing that the 'hot hatches' of yesteryear were leagues ahead of what's being sold now. I would think that view would go down quite well with a lot who post on here :)

^^^

Love the paragraph that begins 'Obvious car geeks in audience hiding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,' :D

Well the good news is the guys are comparing Hot hatches of their yoof to the modern equivalents. And as they are roughly my age (ah hem cough cough) or a little older- I am hoping to see cars I remember and perhaps owned :)

I was working up to a good old fashioned Top Gear whinge, but then I clicked on Matt's link.

Says it all really.

Thought of last years thread as soon as I read it so soon as I see this thread (and the replies!) I had to post it lol.
