Low idling - felicia fun

Featured Replies

Me again...

We seem to have discovered a new problem!

Car idles very low when started up, and will cut out unless you rev it for a while. Then, it's fine.

Happens from starting up cold, but also when I've parked up for an hour too. Any ideas??

When this happened to mine it was the coolant sensor, if youre going to replace it get a genuine one from the dealer as the cheap pattern ones are naff

Strangely mine started doing the same yesterday, turned out my throttle cable was very slack at idle.

also it's worth giving the throttle body a clean too

Thanks guys - that's something we can look at! It seems to be one thing after another at the moment!!

Would the throttle cable being slack be the issue if it only idles too low when starting up? Once I hold the revs up to normal for anywhere between 10secs - 1 minute it's fine then, even stopped in traffic it's fine - just starting up :(

There's supposed to be some slack in the throttle cable.
