Thanks.  It certainly makes sense, if the lower rubber bushes are being replaced, to replace the upper mounts / pads as well.

As for the springs -  as I see it, a spring either breaks or it settles or it's OK.  If they aren't broken, I will keep the exisitng ones.  This is unlike the dampers, which can wear out.  Even if they don't start to leak, dampers can progressively 'soften up' which is why I am having them replaced.

It might be different if I were wishing to modify the suspension - to stiffen or to lower it - rather than just restore it..

Hi Stuarted. I know this is an old thread, but I'm currently taking ownership of an '07 Scout which seems to have similar symptoms. If I have to replace dampers, I'd like to keep/improve the rough-road ride quality. How did this work go, did it solve your problem and how is the ride with the B4s compared to OE? Was any additional work required?

Maybe the member will be back it is only over 3 years since they signed in.
