PS WIll have only had it 2 weeks Friday I think it is but I like to get things how I want them

All u may need is a mdf spacer ring for the rear to stop it bouncing off said shelf

Lloyd, did you make these or buy them in?, need to do these in mine as my replacements can make the shelf mount vibrate if I turn the wick up. Was going to use spacers, but I like this idea better.

I mounted all mine on dynamat. You can get different thicknesses and its good stuff. MDF might be cheaper though.

I've got MB Quartz in mine, direct swap size as oem, presumably I could do that with my ones Lloyd?. How did you cut the hole, with something like a scroll saw?.

Ive got the alpine type e speakers front and back and for just normal listening cant fault them really. They are a big improvement over standard.

They do lack abit of bass but for the money they cant be knocked really.

If i was keeping the car i was going to put the alpine 815 active sub in the boot to give that little bit of bass and so the speakers didn't have to struggle. Again that's pretty cheap at less than £90.

If i had got that it would have been alpine unit, speakers and sub for not much over £200! Which is a bully bargain if you ask me!

Considering i paid more than that for dynamat or a line driver or just leads before!

As gets near fingers

I drew around the speaker , the measured the rubber

Drew meva circle and carefully cut it out

Attempt 1 snapped due to 6mm

9mm msy make life easier :)

Cheers Lloyd.

No probs :)

Just watch them fingers

I put Infinity speakers in mine after I ripped out the amp / sub etc, still sounding great after a couple of years frequently running at maximum near-distortion volume. Can't say I've compared it to another install to know how it measures up TBH. I did components all round but I should have put 2-way in the back, got tweeters on top of the shelves now :wonder:

The tweeters do fit the front-door mounts without cutting & stuff which is nice, with fingers crossed and a shove  . I set the crossovers to -3Db for each tweeter, took the sharp edge off.

Looks like they've gone up a few notes since I bought mine: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INFINITY-REF-6530cs-16-5cm-2-way-270W-Component-Speaker-/260848529974?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cbbc8b236

One thing I certainly did right was bypass the car's own speaker wiring. I pulled the speaker feeds from the ISO block and connected a few yards of proper speaker wire on. That runs straight to the crossovers in each corner of the car and is easily hidden under the carpet-edge trim for the rears.

Leave all the power cables etc in the ISO block so that'll just plug in. You're not chopping anything except a £2 ISO lead, and it can all go back to stock easily too

Really don;t think I can be chewed pulling cables. It'll just be plug and play when I get them

  • 2 weeks later...

Did you replace the speakers?
