Uprated Speakers for the VRS

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone had come across an all in 1 speaker kit for the mk1? Saves me the drama of having to decide on individual components, digging out sizes etc etc

Cheers

Kit as in fronts and rears in a box ready :D

you should be so lucky

Sigh, that means it may take me 5-6 months just to make my bloody mind up! lol

Any audiophiles out there- looks like there's a hole in the market for indecisive people like me

I have magnat speakers and they sound very nice and warm, and were quite cheap

And added the spare wheel Bose subwoofer the sound is great, huge improvement from stock

Also heard people are disconnecting the tweeters on the passenger doors- that stopping some of the distortion is it?

yes,I did the same,I put Merc CLK tweeters on front and disconect on the  back, they sound bad anyway

Might try that tomorrow. I don't even play music loud, I just like what I'm listening to to sound right lol

All u need bud is a budget :)

What phone do you use as I was looking at a headunit like tbe one you got but read they don't work well with Android?

They work perfectly with Android but you must make sure a2dp tags are enabled in whatever player you use. Try player pro, works perfectly every time. As for a car dash app try car home ultra and for sat nav try copilot premium.

Replacements will fit behind oem grilles bud and under the shelf bit

All u may need is a mdf spacer ring for the rear to stop it bouncing off said shelf

£100 budget ?

£200 budget ?

£1000 :D

I don;t set budgets for audio stuff as they're changing all the damn time and I'm just not that into speakers, rather spend the money on power and handling mods. Probs just run it upto Monty at Basemechanix and tell him to make my mind up for me

Just pop alpine e types in mate

6..5 front comps

5.25 rear coax

Prob 30 a set is

Or jl do a range prob 80 each set

To be fair anything is an improve ment over the standard stuff it is appalling. I've got budget 2 ways in front and rear, 2x10" Rockford fosgate subs and it sounds pretty good all cost me less than £200 inc my amp and power cap.

ya see, this is why I hate audio stuff- too many decisions! lol

Unplugged those tweeters and yeah, makes a world of difference

Got most of my stuff locally via gumtree sub amp combos can be had for peanuts. I find 2 ways adequate but some prefer components. Agree with Lloyd though alpine in the front and rears make a massive difference.

Which tweeters you unplugged buddy the rear ones?

Grab the alpines bud

30 ish a set

Job jobbered

Meaty... Yeah, on the rear speakers unplug the inside connector on each. Or just have the radio on and pop one off, if the rear speaker goes quiet it's the other one to unplug lol

OK buddy I'll try it. The standard audio is rubbish so anything is an improvement. I've lost interest in listening to music in the car now as the sound is awful. I messed about with speakers and subs a few years back. I found jbl very good. There wasnt many speakers that would fit in the front doors because big speakers would foul the window mech.

Think I'll end up looking at those but not for a couple of weeks as the missus is getting a bit uppity about the car having so much spent on it. Remapped as soon as I bought, new head unit, New lights all round and then SMF conversion on Friday lol.
