Is it the thermostat?

Featured Replies

So i got this problem with my octy. I drive a 15 km trip to work and 15 km back home. I find it a bit puzling that the temperature gauge doesn't ever go above 50°. But while the car is idleing in place it gets to 90° and after a while the fan hits in. As soon as i start driving the temp goes all the way down again. It is a bit annoying because it's freezing outside and i freeze on the way to work and back and need to get it sorted asap. It's 1.9 TDI 66kW 90hp 2000 elegance combi.

Sounds like it.  Fit a genuine Skoda/VW one.

it does sound like the thermostat is stuck open.
