Drivers side door lock possibilities

Featured Replies

Hey guys, just throwing this out there incase anyone has an idea which I missed.

My vrs only came with 1 key :( & that key doesn't work with drivers door lock.

New blank has come and time to get it cut and coded.

The problem is the sync the key with central locking usually you need 2 keys and one goes in the door lock.

Is there another way of doing this?

Also can a one think as to why the key doesn't go in the door lock other than its a replacement door and locks weren't swapped over.

I was considering is it rusted or blocked from debris but unsure how to tell as key will not go in at all even with a firm amount of pressure applied.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks :)

I have this same issue.

One day I tried putting the key in the lock for no particular reason and I found that it wouldn't go all the way in. I forced it in but it will not turn at all, I don't want to force it any more.

Perhaps I could try spraying something inside it but I don't want to risk properly breaking the lock.

So the key definitely fitted in before? I have no knowledge on locks hopefully someone can come along and educate us lol. I was considering trying wd40? I guess no1 really uses the locks with Central locking but would be nice incase of a flat battery in key fob while away from home.

As far a I know the keys are original and belong to the car.

When the key didn't go all the way in I just assumed it had maybe been super glued or something in the past but I suppose if the lock was never used it could just have seized.

I was able to force it in but it won't turn.

Not bothered about fixing it tbh. I might spray it though and see what happens

Ok mate, same problem here but I haven't braved forcing it in. It's not an issue really I may just replace fob battery and I shouldn't have to worry.

just spray some GT85 in the lock then keep pushing the key in & out & jiggle it about in the lock. You can program remotes with VCDS. With VCDS you don't have to use the 2 key method.

calmul, also how do you intend to program the the transponder to the immob? if you are having to program the remote manually with 2 key method then you won't have any programming equipment

Hi, thanks I'll give that a shot. No I don't I need to get my key coded I was just going to set the key up for Central locking myself to save some money.

ok. you wouldn't really save yourself any money coding it as the transponder still needs coding & whoever does it probably won't charge any less if they're not coding the remote as well as it takes less than 30 secs to code remote once transponder is done

Ah, I found that out today lol. I've just programmed it for Central locking now I'm just after either skoda programming it as they quoted £45 or get the skc if possible.
