Had a "check coolant" warning today, just like the last one a month or so ago (thread here ). Looks like the coolant sensor is on the way out.

I phoned my local Skoda garage, because the car is less than three years old (so still under dealer warranty), but they can't fit me in before next Wednesday - after the Jabba remap on Monday.

I'll take my chances with the mod-friendliness (or otherwise) of the dealer*, but my worry is that the remap will clear any error codes pointing to a faulty coolant sensor. If it does, I can't see the garage being willing to replace it.

Any thoughts?

* Haven't had any experience with this dealer (Thompson & Thompson; main Seat dealership in Lydney, with an outpost in Caldicot looking after Skoda). They have only recently taken over the Skoda franchise from Langstone Motors.

Same here, coolant level warning light comes on on start up sometimes, usually after standing overnight. Was paranoid the first couple of times, now not bothered.

Don't talk to me about mod-friendly. I have to wait for my door barrel to be fitted before I get the eibach springs fitted. They're at home in a box at the moment, being lovingly caressed by me every time I walk past them....

On the other hand, they probably won't even notice?

Jas - surely they're going to notice the springs at some point, even if it's when you take it in for a service?

Personally I'd fit them, for the garage to say it will invalidate your overall warranty is nonsense (although as they have the say on warranty work, persuading them this might be tricky). Can't see any reason why springs would invalidate your warranty but big alloy wheels/an aftermarket HU wouldn't... :D

Rob.

Lets put it this way, if something like my boot mechanism fails, and the dealer tries to claim I'm liable for repairs beause I've voided the ENTIRE warranty by fitting four bloody springs to the suspension... I SHALL UNLEASH THE WRATH OF HELL UPON THEM! *manic laughter* :D

That would really be taking the pi55! How on earth could lowering springs cause damage to a boot lock.... (BTW - If anything went wrong with the suspension I would be willing to pay for repairs - I'm a fair man and would obviously be aware lowering springs WILL affect the suspension's warranty...)

I guess if it's a harder ride, it will shake and vibrate more, which could affect the alignment of the pins and springs... :D

Did they come witha TuV certificate, for your car? If so, they would have a very hard job saying that they were not a satisfactory upgrade. Ask the dealer to fit them? :D

Mike,

Had an issue of ARB joints creaking. Problem was I left it and left it, then it got really annoying, but I was talking the car in for the suspension replacement that week, which effected the whole region... Solution, popped it to the dealer day before and said look at it now, there's a problem, draw up a T card for work in a week for this problem please.

They did, so I go in a week later, now with new suspension on and the work was carried out. Because I registered the fault/issue before the changes. Nothing was said about the bright yellow springs either.

That said they are not mod unfriendly as such, but not tested them yet on modified areas. Hope that helps and if there okay about it all great, if not there are others.

They actually came with nothing at all, apart from four springs, in a box. Not even any fitting instructions for those of us who may not be as techie as some. Thought about asking the dealer to fit them, but when they told me they would void the warranty, I kind of bypassed that line of thought... I just wish Eibach could produce some sort of document saying the springs were designed for my car specifically. Also, just though, eibach are supposed to guarentee the springs for 10 years, but I didn't see any kind of warranty card...

And Rob - Less of your smart remarks. I can just picture my dealer uttering those same words now! Nightmare! :D
