Squeak/squeal as i pull away even after new front discs and pads

Featured Replies

I needed to replace front discs and pads as they were grim anyway but still this strange problem.

But the squeal / squeak that I thought were the brakes is still there but only when I pull away so wonder whether there is a clutch issue or have I fitted the brakes badly or maybe they are bedding in. Just odd it only does it when I pull away both forward and backwards.

I used pagid pads and discs cleaned the old carriers etc and put grease on new pads and pads have shims on them.

Anyone had a strange kind of squeal from a clutch problem when you pull away. It is worse when cold? Sometimes if I hold on the clutch too long it does stink.

I am at a loss really. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I had a noise when pulling away from a standstill when cold in my nissan primera gt,it turned out to be a worn clutch release bearing,i replaced the bearing & clutch & it was fine.Does the noise sound like its coming from the front or rear of the car?

ive used pagid in the past and I got terrible brake squeak from them but that was in the dry and while braking

mikeys answer does seem more plausible especially if its only when taking off.

does it happen everytime you pull away or just when you get in the car and pull away from start

it could just be the new pads sticking to the disc in the cold when the handbrake is applied but this would go away after a few yards and wouldn't occur every time you take off.....

Yeah when I pull off doing and sound coming from front. I have read a thread on here that describes the same and it was clutch release and they had their clutch and flywheel replaced too :(

does sound like it.

sounds like a dear month for the car..

I too have a similar problem to this.

It's been into skoda and they recon it's the rear brakes catching - said it has been fitted with non oem pads and blamed it on that.

Problem is its very intermittent. Sometimes much louder than others. Mainly happens first thing when I set off, then occasionally when been stopped at traffic lights etc.

I have 1 month of warranty left so need to get to bottom of problem sharpish!

I thought it was front brakes. So changed them. They were not great so not to fussed and not that expensive.

It is not really a brake sound I just moved the car backwards up a slight incline and it did it quite badly. But it was a strange almost groan rather than brake pad noise. So load is an issue on mine.

Replacing my rears at Skoda said 199 quid. Cheaper than a big bill if it is the thrust bearing? Maybe replace the rears then you can try to get it done under warranty if problem still there.

I am replacing my rears first to double check even though I am sure they are not the issue. Could do with bring replaced any way.

The thread on another VRS just below thus seems identical to my problem.
