Have Seen A Skoda 2.0fsi Estate 07 Black Pearl Some Advise And Help

Featured Replies

Hi Guys I have seen a Skoda Octavia Estate 07 plate going for less £6000 with full service history and 66350 miles.it has a 2.0 FSI engine and it is the top of the range model  Laurin & Klem,  it also has tow bar on the back. I have requested to have it removed as we will not need it for our use.

I am going to see it on Monday and the car dealer has offered a very good price for my car Vauxhall  Signum 2.2 Dti 2003. 1200 to 1500.

it has had 2 previous owners.

We only do  about 6000 to 9000 miles per year so think the petrol would be better for us and our Budget is 6000 to 6500.

this was the response from the dealer.

"Hi Jon

The car will come with an autogaurd 3 months premium warranty(parts and labour) with a claim limit of £500.00(per claim). The paintwork is Black Magic pearl effect,
We will service the car prior to you taking delivery, which if necessary replace the cam belt and water pump, and discs and pads if required(we will give a copy of the invoice of the work carried out)
This model doesn't have a turbo charger
I have measured the tyres and the fronts have 5mm of tread remaining and the rears 6mm
We can remove the tow bar for you if required

I will gladly take your car in part exchange for ours,(depending on condition we would allow £1200/£1500 for it subject to us appraising it
I hope this answers your questions ,i will email you the pictures you have requested tomorrow afternoon
Kind Regards"

Here is a Pic of the Engine Bay would like your thoughts on this and any advise you can give before I view it on Monday. .

This is better suited in the Octy II section

You will get a better response there, as this part of the forum is basically for saying hello

Cheers

Hi Damo thanks for this I have already done so, hope I get some responses.

Regards Jon

One thing i will mention, if you intend on having a bike rack you will need to keep the tow bar, certainly on my hatch you can't just put a standard bike carrier!

cambelt is 4 years OR 110k if i recall without having my handbook handy, so be prepared for a cambelt next year unless they do it early..

Have you got a link to some more details and photos. Sounds like this will be the 2.0FSI 150bhp, but wasn't aware this was available on an L&K at this age.

Hi yes it is 2.0 FSI looking from those picture of the engine looks very clean well looked after. My Father is also coming to look at it as well, he has a fair knowledge of cars and it will be a good for to give his verdict as well.

I really like this car and considering the millage you quote seems very suited. In fact, my father had one of these as a courtesy car when his VW Scirrocco was having a replacement engine. He was so impressed that as soon as the Scirrocco was repaired he sold it and bought a Skoda Superb.

£6,000 for a quality VW car of a high spec and decent millage seems decent to me. I think it all comes down to the dealer, if you are confident and happy with the dealer go for it. BTW the three month warranty is in fact a statutory right, if I were to sell you my car privately the same would apply.

Please keep us informed of progress..

Hi Swinny46 what swinged it for me was he offered 1200 to 1500  for my 9 year old(subject to viewing the car) Vauxhall Signum 2.2 dti which I thought was a Generous Offer. I saw this car for sale link on Ebay

Now  although the dealer was  been very helpful with my questions he only offered 760 for my car!!!! which I thought was well under value in my view. it goes to show they are better deals out there. So I am all geared up for Mondays Viewing.

I would like to know what the engine is like to drive and is it possible to get 40 miles to gallon on motorway cruising as we will be driving back to Portugal for  6 months  as we have a holiday home out there.

Hi Wiilydog yes that's the one ,my only concern it has been used for towing and the engine has had to work harder than normal. My Dad thinks it rather high for its mileage though. Will have to see on Monday. I will be driving all the way from Telford to Brigg . :D

Williydog thanks I will bare this mind however it is the 1.8 version I would like but I am not prepared for a dealer to give peanuts for my car like above. Getting this version of engine is very difficult to find. However I did see this one link here

http://www.autoconnections.co.uk/used-cars/skoda-octavia-2-0-tdi-pd-ambiente-5dr-brimington-201401080882158

It is more of a basic car less mileage and it is a TDI 2.0

The problem with this it will have a DPF Filter which I am not too keen on as we do not do a lot of mileage per year 9000 the most.

It won't have a DPF at that age. But 9000 is probably not enough to justify the extra cost of a diesel, especially if all your drives are relatively short town runs.

I have checked the miles per gallon on the extra urban and is 47 miles to the gallon,if this true that is very good for a petrol, average is 36.8  link here

http://www.car-emissions.com/cars/view/23136

still trying to find a site that has the true mileage though. Or has anyone got the true mileage from the same spec car.

Can't comment on the petrol but the 2.0TDI gives me about 35mpg round town adjusting the trip computer for what I know is over reading on a typical tank.  It is much better on longer journeys, and in the spring and summer.

35 round town for the PD140? Oh dear, that must be slow progress to get that result!

The 2.0FSI 150bhp published MPG figures are known to be quite 'optimistic'.

It mainly is slow progress with terrible traffic, but my car is down anyway on a lot of what I see quoted here.  Apart from when on a clear run at 60-70 mph, my mpg is nothing to write home about!!

My mixed MPG is 47mpg with a fair bit of urban and short runs. And that's with a fair bit more power over standard too! I'm adamant the 'proper' mapping helps in this regard, over standard, even when just pottering about.

I can only read jealously.  But as my mileage is reduced significantly, it's no real cost headache and as I still get the better consumption on longer clearer runs, its not the end of the world.  I might consider a proper map one day...

Well Guys I am now Skoda Driver for the 1st time   went to see what is  now my new toy!!  link here http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cdb757d39 and it is in superb condition. However it will need the following doing. Not a single stone chip on the paint work, just looks like it has come of the production line it is in that good condition.

All service book stamps correct. The only thing that concerned my Dad, was it changed ownership twice in two years. Not sure what your thoughts are on this. Still he think it was very good deal done today.

New cambelt

Water pump

New break dics

Break pads

Hand break ajustment

Rewnew rear shocker shrouds (rubber covers for shock absorbers)

Oil change and service.

Me and my father drove the car and put it through its places, and apart from the handbreak that just needs adjusting, all sweet and sound. The guys were great got 1450 for my car ,so car price 4500!! .

Will be collecting it next Monday

Well done and welcome to the club

well done, you have managed to get quite a bit of work out of the garage too.

They thought we were abit fussy, however that is not point as I was not able to get  a discount haggle on the car itself as I traded my car in (quite surprised I got a excellent £1450 more than I thought I would get) it was better for me to get £500 worth of work that was needed doing on the car and haggled it that way and it worked

Having said that the the guys Peter and Martin were fantastic,it was old school car buying as how it should be .I have to say they were very helpful and had  a pleasant approach.
