Hello, first time Skoda owner with Octy2

Featured Replies

Hello.

Just bought my first ever Skoda, a 2008 Octavia Elegance.  Apart from an issue with the Stream MP3 radio where half the buttons don't work, I am very pleased with the car so far.

I chose it for 2 reasons: The 1.9 PD engine (no DPF) and the claimed 68mpg.  I commute 140 miles a day between Southport (Merseyside) and Stoke.

Come from having 3 Ford Focus' in 13 years, a 1.6 Petrol, a 1.8 TDCi (54mpg) and a 1.6 TDCi Econetic (65mpg, or about 75mpg with the DPF removed and a remap).  That last Focus I had a year and it caused me nothing but problems - DPF, then multiple turbo failures in a month.  This had that really crappy Peugot engine in it which seems to cause no end of troubles for many people so it had to go.

The Skoda is 2 weeks old to me, with just 38k on the clock.  I am already getting 760miles from a tank on my commute, with equates to around 64mpg.  I do drive it like an old man on the motorway, tending to stay under 70mph and avoid the outside lane where possible.

Looking forward to getting involved with the forums where I can.  For my job I do IT support and in my spare time I am a keen photographer.

Cheers

John
