Bluetooth button not working

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have an 09 Octavia, with OEM bluetooth. Recently, my phone stopped automatically connecting to the car's bluetooth. And the telephone button on the steering wheel of the car doesnt seem to work anymore. (All other buttons on the steering wheel work fine).

Both my wife's phone and my phone dont see any bluetooth in range.

We unpaired our phones from the car, and tried a new search, but no sign of a bluetooth network on either phone. I know the phones connect to other bluetooth networks, so all signs point to the car's bluetooth being at fault..

I removed and replaced a few fuses that might have been culprits. These are the phone fuse, the radio fuse, and the instrument cluster fuse. No change. THe fuses were all fine.

I read somewhere here to remove the bluetooth module, and reconnect it. Where is the bluetooth module? Do I need to remove the main panel in the dash to get at it? What does the bluetooth module look like?

Any other suggestions?

thanks

B

Definitely worth a try.  Look under the driver or passenger seat, in a foam box, they are often there.

Is it a facelift Octavia? Note the part number too if you do find it as it might be useful later.

try to unplug the bluetooth module and plug it back in

Thanks for the suggestions. I located (what I presume is) the bluetooth module under the driver's seat. I took out the connector, waited about 10 seconds, and reconnected it. No change. I'll take a look at the connector when I get a chance, to see if there is any flaky connection in there. I guess if anything, it must be the power to the bluetooth module. If it was just the steering wheel button was dodgy, then the car would still connect to the phones.

Thats logical. But unless a pin actually breaks then the connections are usually sound as they lock together. A vcds scan would help.
