Clutch going going... not quite gone? (Not the Octy...)

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

i was driving my other half's 1.4 petrol 206 today (yes, i hate it too...)

and couldnt help but notice a squeaky, rattley whine from the front end.

it only seems to be occur in gear, on half throttle, between 1500 - 2500 rpm.

Clutch depressed, no noise, in gear and lift off no noise.

dab the throttle in gear while moving - noise.

my spidey sense says clutch, as its a very.. short/ bangy clutch anyway, but just want other opinions...

Release bearing is about to fail if it's just started you've got about 10 days, then it'll go bang and break through the fingers on the pressure plate.

Sorry to be the grim reaper bud but seen many of these and the customers always said " it started rattling about 2 weeks ago".

Can you hear any noise when stationary out of gear with or without foot on clutch???,

Can you feel any vibration though clutch pedal???,

If you hear a noise while driving i carn't see it been clutch i would say its more drive train related

must take it for another spin, but yesterday i could only hear it while moving in gear at low revs.

no vibrations, just an unhealthy squeeking rattle.

will drive it this evening after work again and take note of exactly when the noise builds up.
