4x4 Boot Size

Featured Replies

This is possibly a daft question, but does a 4x4 estate or hatch have a smaller boot than its 2wd counterpart?

Does it still have a full sized spare wheel well the same as a 2wd car?

I'm sure that some space must be lost somewhere to the diff and bigger fuel tank.

Parkers facts and figures doesn't give the luggage capacity on the mk1. Useful :)

They do have a smaller volume (the floor is raised), not sure about exactly how many litres - 40+ish litres maybe

It's a big enough boot on the 4x4

Thanks for the help.

Looking closer at pictures, it's obvious now the boot floor is raised slightly.

Still massive though :)

4x4 boot is still big enough to get a wrapped adult body in..... errr...... apparently :giggle:

And a shovel too. :D

And it takes a full size wheel and tyre. I just got rid of mine, which had 16" wheels, but plenty of room there for wheel and the usual jack etc kit that fits into the centre.

The boot is still bigger / more usable on my 4x4 estate than the A4 & A6 Avants I get the chance to run as company cars

According to the brochure a mk1 estate 4x4 has 100 litres less luggage space than the 2wd version.

It is smaller but not too much,

Its like having the raised floor option but losing the space underneath,

Still has a full size spare though.
