26 days to go so, who else in the 1st March club & for what

Featured Replies

Dealer updated yesterday to say that 1st of March collection should still be going ahead and will confirm by the end of the week (we'll wait and see).

Getting close now! ordered on 02/11/13 so pretty much 5 months to the day, although I have to admit I am counting the hours until I can get rid of my current hateful car and FINALLY collect my vRS :D

Here you go. It catches the light very nicely and there's so much glass to brighten it up. Really pleased.

I think your dealer is trying it on, they wouldn't have been stupid enough to pre-register it, that would cost them thousands if they got it wrong, which it sounds like they have.

If they have pre-registered it, I don't know where that leaves you with your car, either a huge discount is about ot be offered or we'll see just how fast SUK can get a car made.

Good luck to ya.

Mines at UK port, if they can get it to the dealer and PDi'd pretty sharpish i'm just going to take it.

No, I don't think they would've been that stupid and the letter sent to me required a signature to confirm, clearly they ain't getting that.

I also agree they're trying it on, only thing is I'm not sure what 'it' is. I understand they're on quarterly bonus and that's the end of March, not February; I've got a finance deal so getting their money a week late means they'll lose out on the interest accrued over a week, the loose change in my pocket would cover that; blocking space at their dealership? Funny how that happens at the end of every February and December innit!

Following B/W 3 threads (mine's B/W4 ordered mid October with estimated delivery 14.01.14 written on the order  ) I reckon I could be picking it up approx. 14th, SUK say I've got to take the vehicle within 10 days; that = 24th of a 28-day month.

Someone, somewhere, is 'avin' a larf but it's not taken the edge of the excitement at having a new car that bowled me over on the first drive and I ordered on the spot. :sun:

Well, that's my vRS built and on it way, fingers crossed it doesn't get stuck at Emden for weeks.

Spoke to the Sales Admin team at work - Ford dealership regarding cut off date for 63 plates. Yes, I know it could be different with Skoda dealers, but doubt it.

Simply - there isn't one apart from Feb 28th. Holding back on registration is purely down to the dealership and what their quarterly figures look like. If they are close to targets they will push for February registrations, if they have met targets or are simply miles off they will wait for March. We have just ordered some more 63 plates for a final push during February, but then we have lots of cars pre-built in our compound. The dealership has a list of plates available, sometimes they will let you pick which one you want (my wife got a choice for her Fiesta) or simply assign one for you.

Hopefully, everyone who is wanting their car to be registered as a 14 will get their wish, but ultimately it will be down to the dealership.

In time, the part exchange difference between a 2014 63 plate and a 2014 14 plate will not be that great, as dealerships will look at model year. Having said that if I was looking for a second hand car and two similar cars, similar prices, one a 62 and one a 13 plate, I would go for the newer one.

They probably just lack space at the Dealer car park.

Oops, double post.

Hi, yeah, I think so too but if they'd been honest about it I'd offer to cover the costs, for the sake of a week, of storage. All they've said is "Skoda might not like it", hence my call to SUK who have on record they had no problem with 1st March so it will be interesting how it all pans out. I suspect that once the SUK 'case handler' is involved they'll have no wriggle room and may then blame it on storage space or whatever which will beg the question 'why did you blame it on Skoda then?'

I asked the salesperson if he'd like to by a 63 or a 14 from me in three years, "yeah, I know what you mean, but...". Ho-hum, we'll see. Those into irony may be interested to know that either way it will be going on a personal plate with not a '14' in sight, well, maybe after a few weeks or so. :giggle:

My BW4 just arrived at the dealers about 2 hours ago, and needless to say I was there about 20 mins after it was off the truck!  Fortunately I have had a quiet day, so been and looked at it and its awesome!!!

Its going to be a long 3 weeks between now and March 1st!!!

Apparently mine will land at the dealers next tuesday, so I can go and check it out later in the week.

Being built next week (finally),  dealer has promised me a quick turn-a-round so should get early March (I think they have had enough of me)

Expecting a VRS petrol auto, candy white, black pack, spare wheel, canton, columbus, var boot floor, leather, Int parking assist, colour maxidot, heated washer nozzles, sunset glass, kessy and pano roof.  Getting more excited now, first new car.

Knowing my luck the ferry will sink or they will deliver a fabia by mistake.

It was my wife that said go and check it over as we don't want the same as last time!  Last time, I ordered the black alcantara seats and they delivered/ordered full leather, OK they were prepared to give me the full leather at no cost to myself, but it wasn't the car I wanted and I would never of been happy so I had to wait about 12-14 weeks, so this time she go and check it and check all options etc, pleased to report its all as it should be!

Update: letter from dealer this morning confirming new registration on 63 plate, called dealer and said I want a 14, "ooh, SUK might not like that", no worries, will call SUK who informed me a couple of weeks back that they'd have "no problem" with 1st March; phoned SUK who very quickly traced my call on their system and confirmed comment so gave me a 'case number' to quote to dealer. Car still at Grimsby so can't see what all the cloak n'dagger stuff is all about! :wonder:

Updated update on vRS TDI black Combi ordered Oct 14th BW4: Dealer still doing the "Skoda might not like it" [delay registration to '14' plate] routine so called SUK who confirmed my call of a couple of weeks ago saying "1st March ok with us" and gave me a Case number which the dealer requested as 'proof' :wall: Popped in today to find that common sense and capitulation rule. They didn't even bother to inform me of their 'decision', car not even arrived at the dealer yet and it still feels like they're doing me a favour. No worries, job's a good'un; 3 weeks today

How do you know where the car is? Does the dealer have that info?

Just been informed by the Dealer that my car is on the train to Germany, on it's way to the port. ETA 3 weeks.

I'm not trying to wish my life away... but...  1st March can't arrive quick enough.. :giggle:

Just drove passed the dealership  :bandit: and, by Jove, I do believe my black vRS TDI combi is there for the 1st March! I wonder how long it'll take 'em to tell me :wonder:

1.6Tdi Elegance Estate in silver, pan roof, sunset glass, Columbus+canton. I live in Scunthorpe and nearest Skoda dealer is in Grimsby (20miles away) the car is a lease car and as left Grimsby docks and is now in Swindon awaiting delivery for March? Can't believe the car isn't been supplied by the local dealer. Past two lease cars have been VW Passat estate 1.9tdi and current VW Touran 1.6tdi Blue motion. Fancied a change this time, keep you posted...
