VRS Trim discontinued?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I just tried to order some interior trim for my VRS, it is the charcoal soft touch finish, what arrived was black plain plasic finish. I just called Skoda to say its wrong can I have the right finish please and was told, no, its discontinued, you have to replace everything that finish.

Is this true?

Do manufacturers not have to provide spare parts in the same configuration as they were supplied, for a set period of time after the car has finished production?

Surely they cannot get away with doing what they seem to have done to you??

its an 07... so 7 years old. I am considering what direction to go from here.

Wrap them

ring a different dealer and see what they say

I spoke to 3 different dealers about the trim for my headunit/center console when I changed it and got 3 different answers

All tiers of automotive manufacturing have to provide 10 years of support for spare parts once the model is discontinued

Wouldnt the fact that there is a part that can be used mean they fulfill this criteria. Not an ideal solution but I guess this is how they would get around this.

Whats the part number, and I'll look it up on the same system the dealers use.

I would have thought so.

I looked at a couple of years old Peugeot Partner Combi Quicksilver a few years ago in a dealership, and a rear seat was damaged. The dealer offered to replace it as part of the deal but admitted that whilst he could get a new seat, he'd not be able to get the same trim. I decided against a 2 year old car with one seat that didn't match and bought my first Octavia instead

Which trim are we talking about here?

A 7 year old vRS from the factory had silver dash and door inserts.

Only the very latest MkII vRS got dark carbon fibre effect trim.

The plain black trim you describe is from the basic spec Octavia's.

I am thinking I need to take this up with Skoda UK really, I don't know how they think I am going to drive round with odd, mismatching interior. I don't mind paying for the damaged parts but the passenger and rear door handles are immaculate. I think I should pay for the drivers door handle and they should replace the other handles, sunglasses holder, lighting controls front and rear, and the dashboard trims so they all match!

anyone have any contact details of someone at SUK I can speak to?

use the form on their website. They will ring you back the next day normaly
