Test drive

Featured Replies

Hi all. Got my test drive car delivered today and I've got it for 3days. It's a L&K 140ps estate and whilst I was impressed with the spec and ride, the mpg was quite poor (48mpg on steady run from Sheffield to Lincoln) and I wasn't blown away by it. If I do get one as a company car then it'll be the 170ps that I go for. My questions are

1) will the 170ps be better

2) how would it compare the a Octavia VRS ( got one on test in 2 weeks time)

My ideal I'd imagine would be the VRS looks and performance but with the Superb toys. As this isn't an option, I'm not sure which way to go

I've been disappointed by my consumption (see Fuelly below). Although for the 12k miles the car has done the MFD shows 42 ish and it's usually in agreement with my brim to brim maths. We are located in a city with slow traffic etc for 70% of our mileage.

A lot of people on here claim incredible consumption. I've done trips of up to 50mpg but they are the exception. The consumption of the Superb is broadly similar to my experiences with its predecessor a diesel Saab auto convertible and the wife's Focus.

If you look at Fuelly, my car is representative of the Superbs on there.

I used Priuses quite often on hire when I worked and usually got around 50mpg (which compares with yours) as I did with Golf DSGs - (calculated brim to brim when I filled them to go back to the hire company).

I still hope my Superb improves but for a big car I reckon 42 isn't bad.
