Wheelie Bin Damage

Featured Replies

Hi all,

During the high winds in my area on Tuesday night a particularly nasty gust caused my wheelie bin to slam into the rear quarter of my Octavia vRS.

I've no idea how it happened, but heard some really bad gusts, shortly followed by the car alarm going off. I knew straight away what had happened.

The paint hasn't been broken, so I was hoping I could get a paintless dent repair done. However, I'm wondering if the location of the dent makes it difficult.

Is anyone able to offer advice on whether the paintless dent people will be able to get their rods in behind this area, or will I need to use the more traditional bodyshop method of getting it repaired?

Many Thanks...

IIRC there is a space behind the panel on that side of the fuel flap that the fuel flap hinge disappears into which might offer enough access?

Have you tried one of those rubber dent pullers, can't do any harm. I tried to push (idiot) my 05reg Kia Sorento into the garage and managed to dent the tailgate, a dent puller pulled it out.

The dent repair guy I've used in the past hasn't ever had to repair a dent in this area before. He said worst case he may have to punch thro the wheel arch, which I'm nervous about. So thought I'd ask opinions on here as I'm sure others know that area of the Octavia chassis better.

I had an old car where the only solution was the punch through - so I kept the small dent as I preferred that to the possibility of rust.

Could anyone advise a quick way of checking to see if there's access? Would I need to remove some trim from inside the boot or under the wheel arch?

The dent has got a bit of a 'point' to it, and from the photos a couple of dent people said they'd need to get to it from behind, so don't think it's worth trying to pull it myself

I had a dent in the same area on my vivid blue civic. The body shop stuck a pin onto the dent and pulled it out and resprayed the whole quarter. £80 it cost me and even the guy who valets my car never noticed there was a respray in that area. I was very happy with the result.

I'd have though it would be possible to get to the back of that by taking the trim out inside the fuel flap...

The dent repair guy has just been out to take a look. He said if I can get the trim and fuel filler flap off then he reckons he could get to it. He couldn't see an obvious way of removing the trim, and didn't want to break anything.

Is there a guide anywhere on how I can easily get the trim out and the fuel flap door and hinge off?

Cheers...
