VRs HID headlight removal

Featured Replies

After finally finding out how to remove the front bumper with the headlamp washers fitted.....

I need help with the removal of the HID headlights as I am looking to fit a custom boost pipe set up.

Does anyone have a HOW TO or a written walk through??

Many thanks in advance,

Ian :-)

They come out the same as the standard lights

Ignore the part about removing the bumper on this guide. If you're careful it doesn't need to come off at all.

The worst part is the torx screw right down the on the back of the light, you need a long screwdriver and patience to get it out without dropping down into the engine bay. The other 3 are fairly easy to see and get to. 2 torx screws on top, one 10mm bolt in front. The bolt needs to be manoeuvred around in the inside of the bumper to get it out, but it comes out fine. Once all the fixings are undone, they can be lifted out by tilting the headlight as they have a bottom lip which sits inside the headlight. Hard to explain but easy to understand once you can see it.

Also one thing I always found useful, remove the battery front cover as much as possible, as it gives you far more room to manoeuvre your hands inside to unclip the connector.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. The HIDs in the link you provided look different to mines and its the removal of the wires and plugs that's confusing me.

I will post up some pics to see what you think?

Its the removal of that big thick black wire thats connected to the red and black plug which powers the hid that's got me confused. How the hell do I disconnect that as well??

Then there's the passenger side light with little power units fitted to the back cover of the light !! No idea what I'm doing with the passenger side at all!
